Need help choosing - 2018 M4 or 2015 M4?
I'm looking to get into an M4 soon, and these two M4's have caught my eye recently.
One is a 2015 used M4 with AY exterior/SO interior and 24K miles. This one has the Executive Package, and the Lighting Package. Maintenance Warranty expires 8/2019 and asking price is $52K. The other is a USED 2018 M4, with AW exterior/SO interior and 5.5K miles. This one has both the Competition package and Executive package. Maintenance Warranty expires 5/2020 and asking price is $70K. Both are DCT. I'm wondering if it is worth the 20K to go with a 2018 model, or save 20K and go with the 2015. A thing to note is that this will be my first performance car and I'm sure either one would blow me away with their power. TIA |

i dont know.... 2018 sounds great but i think there is little difference. i was in your position couple months ago, but BMW offered me unlimited milage on my CPO so i had to go with the 2015.
but tbh that 2018 sounds good, the only concern i have with that is 2018 is new, so either someone was in a bad position and they had to get rid of it or they leased it for 6 months or something and drove the crap out of it without the breaking in period ( from what i hear this can result in dmg later on) or the car was repo-ed personally i would go for 2015 and save the money and maybe spend it on aftermarket, thats what im doing now |

I suggest you save your money and go with 2015 since no major changes between the 2 and you can use the money to mod or just save the money for life.

I was also concerned about why there is already a used 2018 and also discounted heavily. Either the dealer doesn't know the value (since it's a ford dealer) or they know something that they don't want us to know. Here is the link for it btw: http://www.gaudinford.com/inventory/...4y9c57jaa85934 |

I hated my F80 since the driving feel is crap. My 2017 M2 is awesome. Based on others here I believe the newer one may have upgraded steering and throttle feel due to programming and more M2 like. Go test drive both before deciding! If I were U I'd go cs, comp pack or M2 cs.

Yellow with Orange interior? Id go with the 18 and the comp package if price isn't an issue. If price is an issue, you can find a better color combo for 52K

18 might be a test drive. If they can prove is not, the previous owner should not be a dealer or BMW, go for 18. Its facelifted, colour combo is better, it has the new evo soft.. also check for previous repairs. Might be a repaired car.

You can get a brand new one w comp pack and DCT for 75k?! Wouldn't have the exec pack, but isn't worth the extra 4-5 k imo anyway. There are plenty 15s around for that price, make sure you get the color options you want.

The 2018 fits the profile of a performance center car. All are DCT with the competition package and are sold with around 5k or 6k miles. I'd ask or look into it.
On a side note, having owned a 2016 non-ZCP and 2018 ZCP M4 I would never go back to a non-ZCP. However, since its your first performance car you probably wouldnt care or notice much of a difference unless you spend some time behind the wheel with both. |

2015 with no Comp Pack, yellow exterior and orange interior is a deal killer. Ick.

The 2015 is a hideous color combo and not that great of a deal. I'd look around before making such a big decision.

A 2015 with under 20k miles would be a great find for mid 50's or less. I personally wouldn't be a fan of having any of the M exclusive colors (Yas, Sakhir, yellow) with the sakhir orange interior. I'd do a silverstone or black. You don't NEED the comp pack, just get a burble tune and you'll have more power for a fraction of the price as well.

I've had the '15 M4 and now the '17 M3. Would swing for the '18 if I were in your shoes and could afford it. Would probably offer closer to $65k for it though. Better color combo + newer iDrive, headlights, taillights + competition package are all the little things that make up for everything. And now you wouldn't have to go mess with any software flashes just for a little burble, ZCP steering, and so on. Add a JB4 if you want, and maybe AA midpipes and you'd be all set!

All the journalist reviews state the ZCP M3/M4 is how BMW should have made the cars from the beginning, as far as steering, ride, handling, etc, with notable improvements on the road and track.
Perhaps your decision could factor in how long you plan to keep the M4. If not for long, perhaps get the 2015 M4 and then the next gen M4 sooner than later. If planning to keep for longer, may be better off enjoying the newer and improved features of the 2018. |

Appreciate all the advice! I have to agree that the color combo is not the best, so I will continue my search for a 2015/2016 with a color combination I like. Also, I'm going to opt for getting a tune if I feel that the stock power doesn't cut it for me, and allocate the rest of the savings elsewhere.

Get the one with comp pkg, this naturally excludes 2015 out of choice |

However, many journalists have driven more cars than we have. And, IIRC, virtually all of the journalist reviews have been favorable regarding the ZCP, and many on here as well--I don't recall too many bimmerpost member reviewing the ZCP and saying it's worse than non-ZCP as an overall driving experience. If the journalist and forum member reviews of the ZCP had been generally unfavorable, that'd be helpful as well. But ultimately, we have to drive ZCP and non-ZCP M3s/M4s and decide for ourselves. I'd jump at the chance to drive a Giulia QF and a Camaro ZL1! Ownership is another issue, though. Have read too many comments about inconsistent braking on the QF which would worry me driving around SF. And reliability is a significant unknown/risk. With respect to a Camaro, if I wanted a 2-door that's not the most practical, would have kept the 991. But for my current passenger and cargo space requirements, and to have a manual, the M3 with ZCP ticked more boxes than other cars. |

color on the '15 is a bit tough in my opinion.. I think other than that, that's the way to go. you can update the software on the car and code it, get aftermarket wheels/tires, suspension and exhaust... you'd get the benefits of the newer cars, and then some, and save a bunch of cash
I think the "latest and greatest" is only applicable if you are averse to modifying |
