Low recommendation

Fellow tri-state members,

I have a F82 and I'm interested in going low. I would like to keep the ability to use the stock suspension(driving mode) settings. What do you guys recommend for these NY streets? How's the ride compared to stock? I'm guessing it doesn't get better and if so which is as close as possible?

Looking at BMW M Performance and KW HAS but would like some feedback on other options.

Thanks

I drive PA/NJ/NY and our roads are crap, so I hit up Tommy L Garagefor some good advice. He recommended MP-HAS which softened up my ride 1 notch, now in Comfort mode wife doesn't complain. I like Sport and Sp+ to race. If you run wide tires you might need a 3 or 5mm spacer up front so your tires clear the HAS nuts. My BBS CI-R 9.5ET25 with RE-71R 265/35/19 fronts just fit perfect, no spacers.

The KW-HAS is more track oriented and 1 notch stiffer than stock. KW also needs a few more mil clearance at the nuts, so thicker spacers may be needed.

Have a shop install them since a press is needed. Fit any new wheels/tires and spacers at the same time, and have the dealer do a wheel alignment ($200). If you're a track star then do a corner balance, otherwise not needed.

This pic is MP and set for city driving.

I have been running MP HAS for 2.5 years. No issues on NJ roads. Go for it.

For adaptive suspension, M Performance HAS. Don't waste your time on anything else. I've been there. Maybe KW HAS but I have no experience with it. You can slam the front, but keep the rear drop minimal, your car will be happier for it.

Why are the MPerf HAS softer than stock? Is this only with the passive suspension or active, comp or non comp?

I would have thought m performance anything would be more stiff.

In my case I'm on Base dampers with EDC. The CS/ZCP dampers act slightly different, so that they feel a little more firm than Base. I'm sure some of the suspension pros here can deep-dive on spring and damper details.

My only proof that MP is softer...wife doesn't complain about bumps now.

Thanks for the feedback. I got the car used, I'm not home at the moment but I'm pretty positive my setup is 275/35/19 front and 305/35/19 rear. I'm going with the MP HAS and find out about fit from a shop.

I'd check with SignatureWheelBMW and ask Jimmy about your desired setup. He can advise if you will need any spacers, or maybe downsizing to 275/30 or 265/35 to let you get low proper and still clear HAS.
