Latest BMW M4 (F82) and 4 Series (F32) Lineup Speculations and Recap
BIMMERPOST NEWS Latest BMW M4 (F82) and 4 Series (F32) Lineup Speculations and Recap We have been reporting and referring to the upcoming F32 and F82 models as the 4 Series Coupe and M4 Coupe for months now, and Automobile now comes in with their ruminations on what the M4 and 4 series lineup will bring. Although much of this is not new information, it provides a good review of what to expect for the upcoming 4 Series and M4: 4 Series Coupe (F32), 4 Series Convertible (F33), and Gran Coupe (F36) • Coupe variant of F30 3 Series to be called 4 Series (positioned and priced in lineup just as the 6 Series Coupe is positioned in the 5/6 Series lineup) M4 Coupe (F82) and M4 Gran Coupe (F86) • Coupe variant of F80 M3 to be called M4• BIMMERPOST Note: We expect the F82 M4 Coupe to be introduced late 2014. M440i and M440d • We may see two M Performance models spawned from the 4 Series lineup - the M440i and M440d, with the M440i to replace the 335is.This leaves the following as the future 3/4 Series and M3/M4 lineup:• BIMMERPOST Note: Whether we actually see models badged as "440i or 440d" remains to be seen, but we will surely see M Performance Automobiles spawned off the F30 3 Series and F32 4 Series lineups (in the form of M335i, M435i, M340i, or M440i, etc..) Summary: F30 = 3 Series Sedan F31 = 3 Series Touring F32 = 4 Series Coupe F33 = 4 Series Convertible F34 = 3 Series GT F35 = 3 Series Li (Long Wheelbase) F36 = 4 Series Gran Coupe F80 = M3 sedan F82 = M4 coupe F86 = M4 Gran Coupe Keep in mind that until officially announced by BMW, everything remains speculation, but we believe that most of the above is uncontroversial (notwithstanding the M3/M4 weight estimate). One last thing - the M4 render above is just a teaser for now. Final renders to be posted soon. |

Wait, so a 4 series gran coupe will cost $9,000 more than a 3 series sedan?
so it will cost about the same as a 5 series. good luck with that BMW. |

The 335i loaded already costs more than many 5ers, so wy would this be an issue? The F10 5er is now a luxury car first and foremost, and a very large one at that, and the F30 3er is now the sportsedan the e39 made famous. It can carry 4 adults of approx 6' tall in comfort on long trips as ive just done, so there is no reason for a 5er for anyone that wants a sporty drive. The 5er is the 7er in many aspects and now crowds the same space, so I can say that I believe a longer wheelbase 4er Gran Coupe will be very successful for BMW, I know I'm planning on going for it in M guise when it hits the shores

I also don't buy into the it's called the 4 series now so we charge a ridiculous amount more nonsense. The 3 series coupe has existed for ever and it has always carried an appropriate premium over the sedan. The 4 series still is just a coupe version of the 3 series after all. Using the excuse of the premium they ask for the 6 series over the 5 series to justify the 4 series over 3 series price increase is also ridiculous. Even though they share almost everything mechanically, the 6 series has always been a model on its own, more than a 5 series coupe. More so when the beautiful E24 came out. I'm really not too fond of many of the decisions recently made by BMW. Beautiful render BTW |

If the m4 weighs in at 3300 lbs I will quit my searching and trade my m6 in the day they start accepting pre orders. This is promising, but they have let us down before.... To be continued....

It looks like a slightly smaller 6 series, which is not what I'm hoping for. Time will tell.
Otherwise, the render looks great.

Thanks for recapping the info, Jason. Looking forward to some official news soon(ish).
It will likely be one or the other. If BMW introduces a new top of the line gas engine for non-M cars, then this car will likely be called the 340i/440i/M340i/M440i. If the N55 stays, then these cars will retain their "35i" moniker.
