Any ideas?

Found this on the floor behind the passenger seat. Perhaps attaches to the underside, but nowhere I can easily see. Not overly concerned.

looks like a combination self locking nut from the suspension, is it your stock?

similar to what's there... have you laid down on the floor to check?

Interesting. No, my suspension is not stock. M-performance HAS, GC camber plates, and DINAN sway bars among other things. I did just have my car in for service at a local performance shop. Think I’ll reach out to them about it.

There are self locking nuts on top of the struts but they don't look like that. It looks like the one in this pic (at least on the rears):

What is the history of the vehicle? Any recent repairs performed?

You found this on the INTERIOR of your car, correct?
These vinyl-ringed nuts go to the center console and dash area of the car.

My first guess would be one of the two nuts that goes directly behind removable panel hosting the ventilation fans into the rear seat area.

I did find it on the interior floor behind the passenger seat. I recently had the car into a local performance shop for an oil change and alignment check. They also replaced my cabin air filter which could possibly be the culprit. I contacted the shop and shared the same info and pics with them. Again, I’m not overly concerned about it. Perhaps an extra left behind by mistake or if missing off an interior piece not the end of the world.

That may be the nut that holds the passenger knee airbag to the dash frame. Its normally removed when replacing the microfilter ....

Yep it was from the cabin air filter replacement. Mystery solved! I was thrown off by finding it behind the passenger seat.
