M3 CS above MSRP in Canada

There are 3 CS listed above MSRP on Autotrader in Canada by dealers, 2 in Alberta with 5-8k premiums and one in Ontario just listed at 153k or about 35k above!

It seems like about half the cars have arrived. With more inventory coming I dont think these prices will hold.

Thankfully I just picked mine up with a discount .

Asking price =/= selling price.

They'll come down soon. I'm sure those same dealers would negotiate down to MSRP if you're patient.

Nice pickup though!

Ridiculous. They will sit on it for a long time.

I thought it was illegal for dealers in Canada to sell above MSRP. Maybe it is a law in Quebec only...

I got a pretty good discount on my M4CS. Whoever pays above MSRP for a CS in Canada is not a very good negotiator.

I got my LRG CS here in the U.S. for sticker, and not one cent more. The dealer assured me no mark up when I first went in to ask about it, and kept their word. I've heard some U.S. dealers have been adding a premium though. This is the big reason I didn't go with a new GT3, because of the ridiculous mark ups ($50K!!). That, and the playing favorites. The nice thing about my BMW dealer is it was just first come, first serve. They didn't care whether or not I'd bought from them before (I hadn't). They still sold me their only CS allocation.

It's not surprising that certain dealers will go fishing if they can afford to sit on the car for a bit.

Not sure why they have a price shown like that but they are forbidden from selling the vehicle above MSRP in Canada.

Or doesn’t bother to negotiate at all.

In my book, someone who doesn't bother to negotiate isn't a good negotiator

That's what I thought too. Even Porsche GT2/3/RS are sold at list when new by dealers.

Not really. Most Porsche dealers mark up the new GT cars $20K+

As was stated previously, it is illegal to do so in Canada.

Above MSRP and does not have the Alcantara wheel or carbon ceramics. They are obviously on crack!

Market is very different in Toronto vs Montreal. I learned that quickly when I moved here. If you wait chances are it'll be gone. Had to get my GTS out of province, waitlists were absurd. Timing will help buyers though. No dealer will want to sit over winter with a CS in stock.

Do we know when the last batch is coming in?

I paid $2k below MSRP for my LRG M3 CS. Nobody should pay above MSRP. My dealer didn't want to move from MRSP initially, but I said I would just go to another dealer if they didn't discount.

I also reminded them of the other 6 cars I purchased from them.

Whoa, nice catch. I don't understand why it doesn't have the alcantara steering wheel. All CS's should have them. Is this a build error??

In Canada there were 3 stand alone options for the CS;

M Steering Wheel in Alcantara MSRP: $600
M Carbon Ceramic Brakes MSRP: $9,500
Michelin Cup 2 or Sport Tires MSRP: $0

In the US you could get the Executive package for $2,600

EXECUTIVE PACKAGE Speed Limit Info, Power Rear Sunshade, Manual Rear Side Window Shades, Automatic High Beams, Head-Up Display, Park Distance Control, Icon Adaptive Full LED Headlights.

All of the items with the exception of the sunshades were standard in Canada, the special colors were also a no cost option where Frozen Blue and Lime Rock Grey were a $5,000 add making the CS kind of a bargain in Canada, a refreshing change, worked for me anyway!

It was kind of a factor in making my decision, the 'Canada Discount' vs the US premium should bolster resale value especially for special color cars. I don't think this is going to depreciate like my 1M (which has been minimal to negative), however, I think versus a loaded Comp pack M3 I think the CS will depreciate less.

When it comes down to it, the best automotive strategy is driving a new Corolla every 20 years, and thats fine, everyone has their priorities. An M3 is generally a poor financial decision, but with windows down, listening to that induction sound and feeling the ridiculous torque pushing me through a corner and the juvenile braaaping the exhaust makes on upshifts, my inner 12 year old is happy not to count the pennies.

Ah, that makes sense. I was wondering if that was the case, and briefly searched for the Canadian order guide after I posted that. Good info, thanks!

I agree with all of the above. My exact same argument. We are getting quite a decent deal on the CS in Canada.

Just to nitpick, CCB are $8500
it says 9500$ in the order guide you sent me.

It also says base MSRP is 113,500$ however its actually 114,000 (77550 base + 36450 CS package).

Base price was 77,050 for a 2018 M3 when the CS was announced. They since jacked up the base price.

Yes, very true. I just checked myself and deleted my pervious comment. I wonder why the CCB on the CS are $9,500 while they are $8,500 on the regular M3/4 .
