I'm doing my ED 8/22 car went into production 7/15 -- Genius said there are no holds on it but I'm worried this will turn into an even bigger issue. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Anyhow, I called the genius today again and the guy looked at two "lists" and indicated my M3 is still not on the list. However, it still has not been released to the VPC since it got to port last Monday. The target release to the VPC was Tuesday so it has me worried since it's been sitting for 5 business days now. Lastly, he indicated his list is the 1200 count version and not the 3800 reported on Friday. Obviously, we might need to take that with a grain of salt either way, at this point. I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed mine gets released shortly and is here before I head out of town next Weds for the Olympics.

So we are at the Welt now. I spoke with customer service and was told that the differentials are "heating up" and could possibly "fall" out of the car. Not good. They were supposed to get the new Diffs in yesterday to start repairs but now have been told 2 more weeks. Sorry guys for the bad news.

Make sure you at least see your car.

This is a noise issue - differentials are not falling out of cars. I brought my car in for my 1200 mile service on Saturday and brought this stop sale to my SA's attention. She indeed confirmed my car was affected.
I subsequently opened a case with BMW NA on Monday. I spoke to my SA twice on Monday who advised that they had been in discussions with BMW NA and that my car was able to be released. BMW NA advised them it is a noise issue and not a safety concern. The fix, however, is to replace the entire differential. I confirmed at least 3 times with my SA that it is not safety related. I will still be receiving information from BMW NA directly, but they released my car to me. I picked my car up from service this morning and will bring it back once there is a fix in place. If there was even a remote possibility of a differential "falling out," I would not have been permitted to pick up my car. I'm not claiming I have all the answers, only what transpired in my case. In any event, I'm documenting this every step of the way in case this goes sideways.

Just talked to Genius yet again and was told that my car got to the VPC yesterday and is currently scheduled for completion on the 28th. He wasn't able to tell me whether or not that means it'll have a new diff in it but did say that the date is put in based on the work that has to be performed. So I'm hoping that either I'm lucky enough to get one of the limited replacement diff's they have there or that they've gotten parts.

No tramlining at all, but keep in mind that the German roads are awesome (probably some of the best in the world) so crowning, etc. that we're used to in the US just isn't much of an issue over there. I would say that our loaner X5M was a bit nervous at high speed. I ended up hitting 230 km/h a few times later on but it really was not a comfortable cruiser above 170 or so. I suspect ours was a heavily used press car or the like. Has anyone done anything with social media on this? I just posted something on Twitter - a social swell may help to extract some info from them.
Wishful thinking probably.
