I want to paint my car San Marino Blue
Hi - I’ve got a 2015 m4 in mineral grey metallic. Love the car and the color but can’t help but drool over San Marino blue. Does anyone know if I can get this done at a good / trusted place in the NYC area?

Please don't repaint your car. It'll destroy the resale value and you'll always be able to tell it was repainted.
Wrap it or sell it and buy the color you want. |

Sell yours and buy a SMB. And a good wrap will set you back 5k so you will likely end In the same place financially and with the car you want.
You can even get a CS given so many people are getting rid of one... |

No wrap will ever look as good as real paint
Gloss wraps especially are full of orange peel and don't have anywhere near the depth of gloss clear As suggested, the money you'd spend in a wrap or repaint is the difference bw selling and buying car in correct colour |

You can always look for a shop that does AutoFlex - take a look at some of their stuff on YouTube. It sure looks amazing and the pricing seems decent.

If you intend to keep the car for 5+ years who cares about resale, because these cars after 5 years are worth a ton less than you initially paid.
If you have a good paint man, and the color change is done well in the door jambs, under hood, and trunk then you will likely have interested buyers when it comes time to sell. The standard colors available on F8X aren’t amazing, so when you see SMB(even if the car did not come from factory with) it will garner some attention from potential suitors. |

A high level panel shop will easily nail a full respray and no way would anyone tell it wasn't factory sprayed. It Would last just as a factory spray.
This issue is the money involved to do it properly at a very good shop is hard to justify. |

If you are gonna spend all the money of doing a respray it should be a very special individual color. If its a color that you could get just sell yours and get one in the right color.

SMB is a pretty special color. Friend of mine who’s uncle is a paint and body man of 30+ years had his E46 color changed to SMB, and the execution is vastly superior to the production level orange peel covered finish that all the manufacturers including BMW, deliver their cars.

As per the respray...I am with the crowd. If you decide to do it be willing to pony up the money and get it done right. Good luck with it! |
