I like em wide, oh wait wrong forums. I think the new M3 is going to look even more aggressive with a few cosmetic changes such as wheel offsets and perhaps lowering the car.

Definitely! Once a drop and aggressive wheels start to adorn the new cars, legs will be humped.

What I notice is the fact that the M3's generally have a wider rear track than front, vs. the M5's which have a wider front track than rear. Look at the F10 M5's differential between front and rear tracks! Wild! |

Is wider always absolutely better?
I can see pros and cons for different track setups Just because the track is wide doesn't mean the car looks better I prefer the handling of the e9x series over the f3x series I see a little bit improved turn in and a couple mpg efficiencies Need to have tangible results from a real drive to come to any real conclusions |

LOL, I was wondering why this thread got necrobumped. It is because it made bimmerpost.com's front page!
Thanks mods!

this should be nominated for post of the year. very insightful. crazy how wide the rear of the F80 is relative to the front compared to the other models (especially the e90). I'm guessing this plays a significant part in the reviews we've seen from the DTM driver who say the rear axle has such great grip.

The size jump from the E9X makes the weight loss achieved more impressive.

I just got my F32. Was pulling into a parking garage tonight, and my car felt like it wasn't going to fit. I was used to pulling my E92 in there and my F32 felt a foot wider.
I will say my F32 handles twice as well as my E92. Amazing car.

Very insightful post. An aggressive offset and a drop. Done.

Yes, cars are getting bigger. The more interesting thing to me is the changes to the track/wheelbase ratio. The F80 is now slightly more "Square" than the previous two generations. The track has grown more than the wheelbase. Why is that?
