You wildin' bro.
A7 are the highest classing penalty DOT tire in TT. In NASA TT, RT660/A052 would be a +2 point addition. The A7 is +22 (For reference a Toyo RR is +7 and BFG R1 is +10). I'll only say they're overrated to people who compare them to real slicks - you'll struggle going back to another tire. They grip with barely any heat in them... I love them. |

i'm also looking at some options for another dual-duty car to replace the f80. safety and reliability would be my main concerns, along with cost. given how much i slide around in the f80, i'd like to have seats that work w/ harnesses (half cage and HANS) as well.
my ideal car would be a 718 or 981 GT4, but out of my price range, and having an off-track excursion of any kind would be extra painful some thoughts: -ND2 Miata--I didn't pass the broomstick test at the dealer, so would require an aftermarket bar. -v2 BRZ or FRS--don't know much about it, but with an oil cooler, brakes and harnesses, it might be a good track day fun car -A90 supra if it ever comes w/ a 6MT? this is about as pricey as i'd like to get while still feeling ok about track use(abuse) -next gen M2, especially if it works with Schroth quick-fits like the E9X series i'm not able to tow a car to the track right now, otherwise i'd consider E36/E46 M3s or similar.

i haven't driven the supra, but i have instructed a bunch of supra students and while the car is awesome, the wind buffeting noise from the windows being down is downright awful!
i have to wear my hearing protection in an entirely stock car cuz the buffeting noise and pressure give me a headache after a few sessions.

The B58 sounds a lot better than the S55 is a major one.
I haven't been on track with the car as a driver or a passenger so I can't say a lot about the stock suspension but there's some nice hints to it possibly being decent for dual duty. I haven't given it thorough testing or driven it but it's a car I would certainly consider giving a shot in that price range. |
