F82 DCT Motul vs Ravenol, a bad review
At 100k km I decided to change dct oil, I used Motul multi dctf for 10k km, a lot of jerkynes at gears changes. I decided to change to Ravenol dct and what I can say is wow, everything seems to run very linear now. I used Vaico filters(both of them). What I want to share with others is I really hate Motul Multi DCTF and something is not right with it, maybe is not good for bmw dct.
(Europe car and the green sticker on the gearbox with original oil type is with 214 at the end, i don t remember all code) |

Can you clarify what you mean by "Everything seems to run very linear"? Not criticizing, just curious what issues you were having. Thanks |

First time I decided to change the oil cause car have a lot of km and sometimes the gearbox especialy when hot caused a lot of jerk downshifting and upshifting. Now with ravenol(i don t want to say this is the best but in my case work great), gearbox change the gears(especialy low gears) more smooth than ever(i bought the car at 88k km so I never drived it like new). Motul have something with lower revs maybe the pump not making enough pressure with it(in lower revs on comfort mode) or maybe the viscozity is different, I don't know but it was like the clutches don't synchronize, like a little hang especialy under 60-70*C gearbox oil temperature.

I wouldn't agree with that as a blanket statement. There are plenty of non-OEM companies that make fluids that meet or exceed factory performance/safety specifications for different applications - take engine oil for example. However, if not going with the factory fluid, one obviously needs to do your homework, gathering info from trustworthy sources, in order to make an informed decision.
That said, there are unique applications where using the OEM/factory fluid is probably the "more prudent" option. IMHO, the DCT of the F8x M3/M4 falls in the unique application category and if I had a DCT, I would stick with the OEM option based on the current info available on potential DCT options...
