Alternative to a mirror tap?

Hey all, I want to hardwire my radar detector, but the one thing I would hate losing is the mute button on the plug itself.

I purchased a setup that retains the mute button but that portion is not long enough to run from the mirror down. It looks like I have to find a source in the dash and run power up to the radar, see attached pic

The piece with the red tape is the button, as you can see the actual power cable is much longer to go around the headliner. What in the center dash turns on/ off with the ignition? TIA

What kind of radar do you use?

My escort has a mute button on top of the device, which is mirrortap'd, but I have no issue reaching up over my rear view to mute it as long as there isn't a cable running up in the middle of my view lol

It's a Uniden R3, I got spoiled by the button on the cigarette plug itself, I don't want to reach up, esp when a cop is right on me hitting me with lidar.
