Looking at a 2015 M4 convertible
I sold my 09 335i a little while ago and I miss it. So, I'm thinking 2015 - 2016 M4 convertible. I am aware the convertible is on the heavy side, but there aren't many convertibles with a "rear seat" to choose from. Is there anything I should be aware of, major issues, etc?

For most cases, I don't think there will be any major issues as long as you're planning on keeping the vehicle stock. And of course, if you keep up with all the routine maintenance as well. And at least from what I've seen here on the forums, the S55 platform is pretty bulletproof.
Also, this might vary from who you ask but on top of routine maintenance, I like to condition all the seals twice a year 6 months in-between. Just to have the peace of mind that they won't dry out and cause leaks in the cabin. Some might tell you that it's unnecessary but it's better than potentially having to spend $$$ on replacing them. Personally, I've only had my F83 for 10k miles (15k-25k) with nothing to complain about and smiles all around. The only thing I had to get taken care of though, is a damaged bushing on the rear driver side upper control arm. But other than that zero issues! I hope this gives you a somewhat helpful insight into F83/X ownership! |

Had my 2015 F83 for going on 4 years now… put about 55k miles on it and touching 80k soon… no problems and I have it stage 1 tuned but that's my only performance mod… you won't regret it

1) rain water collecting in the body just forward of the rear wheel wells due to blocked drain holes. Easy fix 2) water entering the cabin from top of windshield due to bad seal Hope this helps and good luck in your search! |

I appreciate the positive responses. I am surprised, too. The other BMWs I have owned or expressed interest in were met with lots of warnings about buying a used one. I think my 335i maintenance costs were a little high, but acceptable.
Please comment on stage 1 tune... requirements, result, etc. I would be interested. My 09 335i had the manual transmission. It was one of the nicest manuals I have owned. But, I'm not fussy about transmissions. Modern automatics, especially with turbo engines, perform extremely well. I have owned 8 convertibles and 3 BMWs with sunroofs. I know to look for drain hole being blocked. But, thanks for the reminder. Last edited by Balr14; 05-10-2021 at 09:00 AM.. |

I’ve had mine for 2 years and only issue outside of routine maintenance is the roof trim did just break off recently so getting that fixed. I also have a stage 1 tune (bootmod3) and love it. Night and day difference vs stock. Other mods I have done are all cosmetic (lip, spoiler, exhaust tips, diffuser, chrome delete (grill, fender grills, badge)).

basically a replica RKP one off ebay that another forum member had purchased as well.
I have not taken any pictures of it yet, but here was the thread from original poster and pics: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...240686&page=51 |
