Yes, the ZF8 get specific programming for ///M car applications. I was just being facetious about the fact that it is the same mechanical unit.

In comes the X3M comp... does anyone think it would be a decent replacement? I drive a CR-V in the winters while the M3cs is garaged, so the X3M would pull double duty in that regard. I'm just somewhat worried about making the jump from super sedan to super SUV

In regards to my M3cs, I was lucky enough to jump in when the deals were crazy, so I'm sure that I could lease swap it very easily if I go that route.
Have you driven the X3MC? B/c the lag is ridiculous!
Stop babying your CS and enjoy it year long...here's mine with my APEX winter setup
I thought i was the only one lol. The lag was horrible on initial kick down.

My f80 is only driven in nice weather...I have an Acura MDX as a daily. I thought about selling the mdx and getting a x3mc as a daily but it's too much vehicle...m40i would be plenty.

How is it to much vehicle for a daily driver? Makes no sense. :

Because it’s an SUV and most won’t even come close to using the power/handling of an X3M(C) (or X3 M40 for that matter) on the road. Most of these buyers care about is utility, comfort, luxury, reliability etc etc. It’s a very small market for these and it shows in sales. They are discounting them quite heavily and they still aren’t selling.

I'm laughing at the $600/month lease price.

Go for it - bring it home. Dare ya. Whole bunch of crap has to happen
1. Car has to be punched as a loaner (BMW is already in trouble for that) - oh and this means your warranty started when they punched it.
2. Car has to be discounted way below cost, plus the $4,250 lease credit.
3. 57% residual and my back of the napkin says $700/month ish - without interest, lease init fees, tax, title, whatever... So pony all that up. In fact, I can get $600 a month with enough money down - which you should NEVER do on a lease.
4. and if you live in a wintery area, don't forget the snow tires..

The M3CS people had a very high priced MSRP (residual is based on that), massive BMW support, AND dealers who were willing to take a huge loss on a car they could not move.

We aren't there with the X3M yet..

Agreed. Go over to the x3m forum and look at their pricing thread. No one is anywhere near $600 payment.

All depends on how loaded an X3M you want. I had a deal on a X3MC with an MSRP of $82,695 with $5250 in rebates plus 9k off. With 3k down it was $836 a month. They had a regular X3M with an MSRP of $78,495 which would of been in the mid 750s for payment. Get a regular X3M with just paint and exec would crack the high 600s and get base and you are in the mid 600s. Very off the cuff math of course and you are correct you need to get snows if you live in a northern climate. I priced out sets from 2-2500 on Tire Rack.

So close to $600 on the dot? I agree isn't realistic without a decent more down. But with just startups down you can get a very decent lease payment now on these. My dealer was telling me that no dealers want them and BMW is kind of forcing them to take some for lack of a better term. My dealer currently has 6 in stock and I think more on the way with none of them moving. So, I'm guessing we are going to see M3/4 CS like deals on these in the not to distant future unless something changes quickly.

Also, I don't think dealers were losing a lot of money on the CS deals as BMW stepped up with a ton of trunk money etc to move them from what I heard.

I saw them too but again, if you look at what people are actually reporting in here you won't see anyone in the 6's. Those deals are very high % off msrp, require max MSD, and are for only 10k miles. It's possible if those leakhackr guys can actually get 12% off or so and you are willing to do max MSD but I def don't think that is the normal deal unfortunately.

It is easily possible to get 11-12% (before rebates etc also) off and I just showed how you can get into the 6s without max MSDs, but those obviously help and they knocked roughly $50 a month off of our 550 lease. Yes 10k miles, but mid 7s with 12-15k miles is not hard to attain either.

It might be the cabin fever talking, but I've been having the same thoughts. Absolutely love, LOVE my M3cs but with a 4 and 6 year old, it has kind of gotten tiresome either taking my wife's car (Honda Clarity) or our beater (2013 Tiguan).

Selfishly, I'd like to keep the M3cs, but consolidating that and the Tiguan in to an X3Mc is also attractive.

My dealer, who has plenty of X3M/C in stock says that the reason they are not moving is that the 40i is such an incredible car (ok truck) and of you drive the back to back, most prefer the 40i.

I have yet to drive either, but if I was contemplating, I'd test drive both.

It’s cabin fever. Also it’s a tough call. My random opinion is both cars are two pedal cars at the end of the day. The x3m has a bit more usable trunk space. The suspension is not as refined on the x3. 265/295 pirellis can help alleviate that. The m3 suspension is more compliant even with the shorter stroke. The m3 looks better in some (most) ways (fenders). The M3 is one of the last ///M cars with an analog cluster (nostalgia factor?) w/shift lights. The x3m seats are a smidge more narrow. The x3m seats have a slightly higher quality leather compared to the m3. No torque spike in the x3m.

The difference between the two is the seats and the x- drive sport. MDM allows allows lots of slip at low speeds. Lots of fun to get sideways (for an awd) and the power after 3k rpm is great. Not as much of an adrenaline rush (compared to the f90) but it’s pretty good.

At the cost of ride and let's be honest, the people (hint OP) are trading up cause they need something a touch more sane. I just don't think the X3/X4/X5/X6M folks are driving around with MDM mode on sliding through turns on the way to work.

But that's just my thought of course (and if I'm right might explain why the X3M/X4Ms are simply not moving).

How's the ride in the X3M?

My wife had a previous gen (2018) X4 M40i, and it had an awful ride. Everyone got a bit queasy feeling when riding in the back seat.

On a positive note, that little SUV would haul ass.

With the market going the way it is, maybe people feel itís an investing opportunity (or are worried about their cash flow).

Itís a tough time to introduce a new car.
