Maybe you should tell the OP not to post too since it's going to sound like everyone else's...

Hopefully I don't offend anyone by saying that sounds horrible.

Equal length exhausts. This summer is going to be game changing for s55 sound.

Yeah well, wasn’t around last 4.5 years of when I owned the car. Too late now. I already swapped it for something that will sound way better than any number of equal length pipes the F8X brings

Trust me it's easy. It wasn't about saving money for me as much as how I know I'll do it right down to the last millimeter when it comes to cutting the pipes
Hi why do you actually need to cut the pipes? I'm looking at buying a used one of these and just keen to understand.

Because the M Perf exhaust pipes don't come with flanges and are designed to connect before the resonators. They are not long enough to reach the flanges that connect to the downpipes. If you don't want to cut the OEM exhaust but still want to go with M Perf Exhaust your only option is to go with AA or some other midpipes but you will then have to cut the the MPerf pipes.

And if you want to avoid cutting altogether, you will have to go with Akrapovich or something else.

Hi thanks I found a copy of the BMW install instructions as well so it's clear now - I aim to get this done once the COVID situation dies down .

Stay safe!

Great write up!!

Say, is there a consensus on what coupler to use if you want to revert back to stock? Since the pipes are cut, there has to be some sort of clamping coupler...

Plenty options on amazon. Sold the car so I forget but it’s a 2” or 2.5” exhaust clamp. Basically used to join two two straight cut pipes. Was super easy. Just tighten 2 bolts. No gasket or anything needed.

SwissTrax. I ordered samples from Racedeck and SwissTrax and out them through all sorts of tests. The Swisstrax came out far superior. They have great sales around Thanksgiving BF time. I have had it for 8 years now and best money ever spent
