FWIW - A front BBK is all you need and it doesn't have to be the 380MM. I ran Stoptech ST-40 fronts and stock rear with PFC 08 pads on my e90M and 1M and they performed just as well as a full ST-60 and ST-40 setup. I've toasted my share of stock piston seals and I believe Ti shims should help. The key is not to run your pads too thin. I would always try to squeeze every penny out of my race pads and it wound up costing me in having to replace the front seals. I haven't tracked my F80 yet, but I'm going to roll the dice with Pagid yellows and Motul for my first event.

You make some good points here and I think I made the same mistake by trying to maximum the life of the pads on my car. These darn pads are just so expensive, it feels wasteful to throw them away at 40-50% pad thickness.
