Hi Chaps, And he is correct.... why? Because it doesn't creep until you tap the accelerator. Not sure what you're missing here.

I am with Clarkson on the colors. BMW does offer some nice blue colors (YMB, Santorini) but most of the other colors are weird. The AY in particular is just awful. I still remember his review of the M5 where he couldn't get the SatNav lady to shut up and he complained bitterly about the car until ... he pushed the "sport mode" button.

Clarksons reviews , certainly in the UK are seen by millions of people, hopefully when they get it on Top Gear they'll like it because a bad review on Top Gear can seriously effect a cars perception by the public and residual values.
My guess is it will be similar to his E60 M5 review- spends 5 minutes taking about the things he hates, then hits the M button and loves the car!

Can't wait to see the review on the show next season. Jeremy is always very critical of everything he can be while Hammond will undoubtedly love this thing. It's all a matter of opinion.

I don't remember the last time I agreed with Clarkson on something. But I feel the same thing about the M3/M4 overall design (the A-Team | B-Team), I think it could've been better, from the angle of the new scenario where you have MB, Audi & other makers being extremely competitive, each year there are more and more options (vertically and horizontally) when choosing a car. Still the M4 is the best, but not by far. I'd probably go better with a Cayman GTS. Very different cars, but that's my point, and it's also a little bit cheaper than the M4 in my country)

Interesting. Wish there was a video review on the car.
I want to know what Richard Hammond thinks of the new M4/M3

The military has a special name for people like this, it's called an
"Oxygen Thief" stealing all the good peoples air. What a horrible write up and wrong in so many ways, that I would not know where to start my debate with him. BMW obviously didn't feel like paying him what he wanted for the review! |

I'm surprised he didn't like the color. AY is actually my fav color for this car along with tanzanite blue individual. The AY looks really good with black interior, tinted windows and black rims. And the ceramic breaks in yellow makes a good match with the color. I guess everyone has a different taste when it comes to color.

I've watched most of their shows and it seems to me that Jeremy simply hates BMW's for some odd reason. He loves the AMG...likes the M5/M3 a little bit but everything else is rubbish. My reply... nice pot belly you got there BOZO. BMW's are sublime!!

Back to the review, this was a positive review coming from Clarkson, the only stuff that matters is the performance end. Hearing that this was the best thing he's driven in months considering this guy has driven a P1, 918, and some other of worlds finest automobiles, that is a pretty big statement. Awesome feedback. |

Love Clarkson.
I also love the BMW DCT (in my e92) made by Getrag. It feels and responds exactly like a dual clutch trans should. I think Clarkson is looking for an "automatic". The PDK in my 997.2 will hold a lot more power and might shift as quick as the DCT, but the paddle shifter engagement is poor. There is a delay between when you pull the paddles and when it shifts. Not so in the BMW DCT. Also, Porsche has done something to "soften" the shift of the PDK to make it feel like an automatic. With the DCT, I can feel the shift reverberate through my fingers when I'm on it...whether upshifting or downshifting. It's almost like a single-clutch trans of the F430 but much, much faster in the shift. The PDK also allows the car to roll forward on it's own by letting off the brake and allows for brake boosting. The DCT will not roll forward unless you tap the accelerator which does make parking slightly more engaging but not terrible. My only one complaint about the DCT is that you cannot brake boost. I would like the ability to jump off the line at ~ 2,000 RPM. But I can only go off-idle. The launch control feature in the DCT is worthless and the mini-launch control feature (slamming accelerator to the floor triggers kick-down and drops clutches at 3K rpm is hard on the DCT) is hard on the clutches and should not be done unless you want to run the risk of having to replace the clutches. Other than that one small gripe on my part, the DCT is a masterpiece IMHO.

I dont think you have watched many of his shows. He notoriously loves M3s and the new M5 (more so than most other reviewers on the latter).
