I drove four laps around the 'Ring in May 2016 in my M4. I'm pretty sure my lap times were a bit slower.

It's worth mentioning that it's no ordinary M4 with just some mods. It's a VLN race car and it cost $200k to build. Robert Mitchell said in one of his videos that it's one of the best cars (of any kind) he has ever driven on track and it's as fast if not faster than a stock 720S.
Still, it does show the potential of the platform with the right investment.

What all went into the build? From what I can see the only impact to performance was slight weight reduction and coil overs. I have to be missing the extra 100+ thousand somewhere.

You're thinking about the silver Team Schirmer M4 that he has. The one in the video is their other M4 that's just stripped out with suspension and some other smaller mods.

What's interesting, I read somewhere that their APEX F80 M3 taxi, which gets a shit ton track miles on the Nordschleife, still runs on the stock crank hub. I know over there in Europe they just do a crank bolt capture and call it a day.

Compared to the US where we prefer a "complete" solution.

I was at the edge of my seat the entire lap. I'm so glad Misha posted this video after that last Tesla Model 3 video. The owner of the Tesla kept moaning and groaning the entire lap.

I love how Kubica says that most normal cars and tracks aren't that exciting when you're driving F1, but that the Nürburgring is special and feels a lot faster than it is.

The talent is insane. It's always mind blowing to me anytime I see F1 drivers get into normal cars, like they do on F1 pre-show segments a lot, and just push them to their limits with such ease. And like he said, nothing is as satisfying after being in F1.
