sorry you had to give up the M. But sounds like you made the right choice for yourself. giving up performance for more interior space, comfier ride, and higher seating position.
at least you didn't go off the deep end and get a minivan

I will tell you two things that sucked though. The steering wheel profile and it doesn’t have navigation in the best option (cheap upgrade but the one I drove didn’t have it). Makes your big, pretty screen feel like a rental car. |

I have to assume youre comparing it to normal rental cars like Hyundais and Kias? That's not a very high bar if so. Or are you out there renting performance oriented cars on a regular basis? |

Calling the F80/F82 steering 'numb and soulless' and comparing it to a rental is a heck of a hyperbole. I just switched from an E92 335is, frequently praised as having one of the last great BMW hydraulic steerings, and regularly switch between the F80 and my E36 M3. Maybe you don't feel every road imperfection and texture in the F80 like you do in those older cars. But it more than makes up for it in precision.

Was it capable and an awesome car (the camaro), yes, was it worth the compromises? No. Was the steering better? To be fair I couldn't ever tell at either AutoX or track days. It's all personal preference man. But I think saying an F8X is numb and soulless is a bit of stretch. But that's your opinion, so we are all good. Don't need you to agree.

I never have had a chance to drive a M2 of any variety and I'd really like to. I can't imagine the G80/82 are going to have any feel whatsoever. But, I could be wrong and we'll see what actual reviewers (not these paid YT influencers) think when they get their hands on them. Bottom line is if one likes one of the over, the good thing is we still have some great choices for awhile. |

Shouldn't you buy what gives you the feels? The F80 and the F87 did that for me, the Camaro didn't. Isn't that all that matters? Also, I assume you haven't driven the M2C or the M3CS which those reviewers you seem to think so highly of almost universally think is better than the normal F8X. Maybe your one of those people who doesn't care about trying anything yourself and see if it has improved. See how that works? I can make wild assumptions about you without basis in reality, funny how that works. I mean don't you own like an X5 and an M340i? Get out of here your high and mighty "I care about steering" nonsense, those are two of the most numb soulless take me to the retirement community cars I've ever driven. Also, I don't care at all about track times (if I did, id still own the Camaro obviously). But again, OPINION.

Had an M850 GC last week as a loaner. Loved the car and steering was precise but just no feel to me at least. |
