And please don't get offended if I push back, my first reaction were very similar to those that you are having. I am trying to play devil's advocate to try to take a step back and see the big picture.

I have caught myself fiercely negotiating a $10 (2 cups of Starbucks coffee) change in the price of my lease. This process has made me anal retentive about certain things because I have become so invested in it... Just trying to think in a similar way as I do for other things.

Like I said, I think this is a great exercise and I do appreciate all the input! Thanks guys!

Yes I understand, that's why I never let anyone touch my car... My friends asked me how am I doing when I let my car for service, my answer is that i feel same when I let my wife at the gynecologist

If I handed my keys to someone on ED, it'd better be an old dude with the name Stuck or a woman named Schmidt.

It is a lease and it is under warranty... but point taken! I don't know how he would manage to ruin the car in 550 miles though...

Personally, I'd drive the car myself, leave the wife at Rome to explore for the day, then take a city hopper or train back. You'll probably save 3-500 after gas and trip back, and perhaps you can do things you wouldn't otherwise do with a spouse in the car...

To all the naysayers in this post, I want to tell you something...

I did it anyways and you know what... the driver crashed it!

Well, I'm laughing now, but it took a long time for the car to arrive from port because of this.

Apparently it was a scratch from another car when she parked it while taking it from Rome to Munich. But I smell BS, I think she scratched it herself.

Anyway, all is good now and I'm very happy I went to Italy! had a blast

Putting aside the clickbait'ish title--I would just drive it back yourself or find another port to drop it off at. IMHO, $900 and the uncertainty of what will happen is too much to deal with.

OMG, that "driver" will hoon the hell out of your car. If you're ok with that, do it.

NFW!

Many folks won't even let a valet drive the car into a garage... You want to let "some guy" drive your car 550 miles?

Take a nice train ride instead. Maybe a night train for all the romance it offers!

OP, you are the least OCD person on this whole forum to even consider this lol. I am a pretty easy going guy, but even I wouldn't consider this lol.

Hehe. I did it already guys. She drove it and she scratched it, it was fixed to original spec and I'm as happy as can be with the car! Would do it again 100%. Italy is amazing, and driving back the car would have been too much of a hassle
