Should I stay away

Trying to buy my first BMW, specifically an M4, so hello all. This picture I took is really the only thing I noticed that seems off. Both sides have this panel cutout on the body next to the rear wheels. What exactly is this, should I avoid the car or is this i shouldn't worry about?Carfax clean and overall car looks good and sounds good. What do you all think?

Are you referring to the PPF cutout in front of each rear wheel? If so, thatís factory standard on every F8X to protect from rock chips due to the wider wheelbase.

That's just film to protect the paint from chips. Seems aftermarket to me and it yellowed horribly. You will have to remove it and redo PPF there.

Make sure your car is inspected by BMW or a good shop.

It's not aftermarket. The oem ppf is crap, it yellows like that. It's also not tall enough. I had mine redone with llumar ppf (a larger piece for better protection). The llumar looks WAY better, hard to even notice it.

Should you avoid the car because it has an OEM, standard part that every F8X has?

No.

Wow, that's really bad OEM quality then. I did all over when I got the car so that section is gone.

I did a "track package" - full front (fenders, hood, etc), a pillars, rocker panels, areas in front and behind the rear wheel wells. I'll likely also use front flaps to better protect the doors. Tracking takes a toll if you aren't diligent about paint protection.

Thanks guys for the responses, I feel confident now that this is the one. I'm waiting on my loan application, hopefully I get a response soon and hopefully the car is still available. Thanks again.

Yup OEM. Just replace it with another from the dealer when you get the car.
