Are you trapping in the mid 130s with that setup? Or is it faster?
Trapping 129-130mph, I'm guessing I'm at around 560whp with my custom e85 tune. I didn't want to push my stock turbos to the max, But this platform can easily be taken to 750ish whp with stock internals. I'm looking to get into another platform that can push the same power levels without breaking my bank account

Jury's still out.

In my eyes, an F8X lowered on perfectly fitted 20s is one of the best looking cars on the road today and will be for the foreseeable future. It's also hands down the best looking M car released to date. The look back factor is huge for me. It's crazy a commuter car with its humble roots does this.

My only real complaint is the tightness or immediacy that connects throttle/dct/sound. I wish somehow they programmed it to sound as close to 99X GT3. I'm not talking about sound as in how it sounds per se; rather, it's more how when I shift up or down the sound also snaps with zero or minimal latency along all 3 fronts. I can get it to do it under partial throttle under certain conditions. Holistically, it's a smidge off target. Maybe others can relate to what I'm talking about.

So long as it remains reliable, it makes it tougher to let go because anything materially better is well into the six figs.

I may do the same. Had 4 E9x Ms and an M4CS and though the CS was more modern, handled better and was more refined, my last supercharged E92 was still more fun than the CS to drive. Ultimately manual > DCT, so a manual E92 M3 with a Harrop blower is as good as it gets for me, at least with the BMW offerings.

I really love the F8X but the G20/G80 isn't going in the same direction as I am. This will be my last M3. The F8X is at the size and weight limit to being fun.

I don't care as much about 0-60, I couldn't care less about stop light racing, I think it's boring as shit. So and AWD M4 doesn't really interest me. Right now I'm steering towards a 718 GTS 4.0 or 981 GTS.

That being said I think I will still have a bimmer in the garage as a commuter car. I'd love an outgoing i8 if I can get a monster deal. Or I could get in yet another i3 (I'm on my 3rd). I'd also consider a Z4 because I've always wanted a roadster.

All good points man but they are making a RWD 6MT G80 M3. If that car strikes all the boxes I will slide into one. Otherwise I may just pickup a slightly used CS and try to be content with it.

The problem with the G80 is the Beaver and Lexus rear end.

Doesn't really matter because it's going to make the F8x look dated.

I'm not interested in something that size. I think it ticks a lot of boxes, but not the ones I would like in my next weekend/track/canyon car.

I agree with you. What about a GT3? I've seen a few 2015's at really good prices.

If the price is right! I like the idea of a cheaper 981/718 that I wouldn't mind putting into the runoff at the track. I've already put my CS in the dirt and it wasn't pretty.

Nope had one of the original launch cars and then an “upgraded” comp pack. Never fell in love with either and haven't missed the M4 since I sold it.

On the flip side I still regret selling my low mile e90 M manual all the time.

OP also asked about resale... yeah its horrible lol.

They're at really good prices for a reason. It has an inferior engine, problematic engine that they updated with a proper motorsport grade lump in the .2s.

.1s should be avoided unless you're really desperate to be in a 991 GT3.

Oh wow I didn't know that. Porches hasn't provided any warranty for that since it's a faulty engine?

Yes, early models did have issues but they seem to be resolved. I honestly haven’t looked too hard as I’m personally interested in then 996/997 cup cars versus the newer street cars for my next Porsche.

3.8 with PDK is a tougher sell than 4.0 with manual for people who want a fun street car or who want keep miles low and have a gt3 around for a bit and then resale

There’s a 10year 120k mile warranty on 991.1 gt3 and the lower costs mean more money for tires and entry fees if you will track the car hard (but then again, if that’s your usage pattern, you should consider getting a 997 cup and leaving at the track for even less money).

They actually stepped up with a 10-year engine warranty (from in service date), but I personally wouldn't enjoy the ownership experience knowing that the heart of the vehicle is fundamentally flawed straight out of P-factory. Others share my sentiment thus the steeper depreciation curve relative to other GT3s.

The 991.2 engine is legit.

That’s a hard blanket statement to make.

I pulled my deposit for 718 gt4 and wasn’t rushing to buy a 981 gt4 after borrowing my brother’s at track days.

I think you have to really aspire to the brand and be ok that you are paying a LOT for a given level of performance.

I've never tracked a GT4 but fit, finish, and driving experience are far better than an M4 IMO.

I've had my car for ~ 1.5 years now, and while I still shop for new cars constantly, because I have a problem, I can really see myself driving it through the warranty period, which is early 2023.
