I pulled the trigger on the iND set and all I can say it wow. I find myself looking down at it all the time. I hope I don't accidentally rear end anyone.
So I've gone from this knob in my 135i to the lighted M leather knob. The M3 from the lighted M Leather knob back to the M Performance knob. I like them both to be completely honest. I'll switch from one to the other. Anyone remember that little girl from those taco commercials? "Why not have both?"

So picked this up from a buddy of mine and so far I really love it. Looks great and fits in with my other alcantara pieces. I was afraid after reading some of the reviews that the knob would be too light or not have enough heft, but to my surprise it has a nice weight to it and is quality.
The throws are now a bit lower and I can feel + control the shift in a much more direct and concise way. I think this type of knob actually works better for those that hold the knob and shift from the side, and might not be a good fit for those that shift from the top. I can now chirp in second gear, which was a problem with the stock knob as I'd have to be more careful to not jam into the gear. I was hoping the upcoming M perf knob would be similar in form and light up, but this wasn't the case, and I'm 90% certain it's ugly... Now just need the steering wheel....

I had my M Performance shift knob customized by IND because I didn't care for the carbon fiber on it. It's fully wrapped in alcantara, and it now completes my interior upgrades that included the non-electronic alcantara steering wheel, tri-color CF/alcantara e-brake w/ boot and tri-color alcantara armrest.

That's exactly what I did. It was fairly easy to separate and reattach the boots.

Starting to think about interior upgrades. I haven't done anything else yet and not sure I want to replace the Aluminum Hex with CF. I currently like the contrast to the black on the rest of the dash. Does anyone have any pics of the CF M performance shifter installed (preferably with the handbrake too) without the CF interior trim pieces?

Has anyone tried changing out the stock grey boot from the performance knob, and attach the tri colored from coby? I just ordered the performance knob, but would love the tricolor, and dont have the patience to stitch lol.
Also, does anyone know the cheapest way to get the boot and carbon fiber handbreak, i cant justify the prices i see on this mod lol |

Am thinking of buying this from cobywheel but need to know if it can be fitted to the stock knob? The ring around the stock knob, does it come off? Is the a DIY to fit this to the stock knob?
Thanks.

The boot comes with a lot of extra length as it tapers. I ended up having to trim it to make it work. The material is really thin though. It feels kind of cheap as it doesn't have the "fluff". But after I installed it, I didn't really think about it anymore. |
