QMP do you man, don't worry about justifying how you spend your money. The LCI led headlight make the M3 and M4 so so much nicer. I also love the CS lci taillight too.

I'm going to try and lightly smoke the headlights with some orcal vinyl to see if that helps to cut the chromyness down. |

Check out 4everkidd DIY. Lots of great info. This would've been my route had I not been fortunate to get my hands on Icons. DIY Blacked Out Headlights https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1494304 |

Best of both worlds would be opening up the pre-LCI and blacking out certain areas but leaving enough chrome for some depth/detail. Post some pics if you smoke your lights. |

Just finished the conversion. FedEx damaged the LEFT headlight during shipping, but my seller was a stand up guy, he is shipping a brand new replacement direct from Germany while they process the insurance claim.
Install was pretty simple, the new LCI ICON headlights are COMPLETELY different from the 15-17 LED, everything from the connector locations, modules and housing design has changed. Just by putting them side by side, the top, sides and back of the housing looks entirely different, it almost looks like they wouldn't fit correctly but rest assure they do. Bumper removal was the most daunting part, thankfully BMW designed the bumper to be removed pretty easily and it was pretty straight forward. The two bottom T30 screws at the bottom of the headlights were a PIA, BMW used red loctite on all of them so both of my inside ones required carefully positioned needle nose VISE GRIPS to prevent the nut from spinning. The driver side plug will reach the new connector position without modification but the passenger side is short by about 3-4". In order to reach, you need to unravel the headlight harness back about 3 feet to afford enough slack for the connector to reach. This was the most time consuming part of the whole retrofit. Last step is to get them coded and you're good to go! Overall I give this retrofit a 6/10 on the difficulty scale. Pros: The new headlights look mean, the running light part is beautiful and the new "eyebrow" turn signals look amazing. Everything works as intended, Anti-Dazzle high beams works just as well as before. The beam cut-off on the new ICON LEDs seem to be sharper than before. Gives the front end a new aggressive look. Cons: You lose the corner turn lights, I really do miss that feature especially turning into dark streets or driveways. These suckers are expensive! You might be able to sell your 15-17 LED's to recoup some of the cost. I threw my back out removing the bumper, I think this will be my last DIY since I'm getting too old. If I had to do it again I would probably just pay someone. Last edited by DanMpower; 07-30-2018 at 04:00 PM.. |

I'm looking to do the same for my '17 but likely won't be a DIY for me. I'll likely source someone to do the install. Mind sharing where you made purchase from? |

Not sure exactly since my seller remotely coded everything for me. After plugging them in, you will get headlight error messages and they won't turn on. Not even the turn signals work until you code them.

These lights were one of the reasosn I went from my 17 to 18. Love the look.
Expensive to retrofit yes, but money is relative and people spend thousands on here modding their cars. You can't take it with you anyway With these and the comp package, my car is exactly how I'd want it. |
