Garage List
2018 BMW M3  [0.00]
I received the AmbientModz frosted plastic M3 pieces after a couple weeks delivery time from the UK. They came packaged nicely in a little cardboard tube so that there was no risk of damage during shipment.

The installation could not be easier as the long edge simply slots between the leather and the plastic. It's helpful to line them up with the LED strip to ensure even coverage on both ends since it isn't centered precisely in the channel from the factory. They look nice and I'm completely happy with these.

Total installation time was less than 5 minutes from opening the package to checking/adjusting one of them.

just ordered mine from amazon because of this thread- I honestly never even noticed the ambient lighting until a i had a new 530xi as a loaner last week. they were SUPER bright in there, and these strips seem to replicate that.

I got my ambient lights coded to 100% as well.

Definitely a cool look especially at night.

I wish I could find a set for the rear seats.
You can code them to be even brighter even after setting them to max in the menu?
Yes I believe the stock ones max out at 67% or something like that. Honestly don't know the level it's set at but with coding you can increase the brightness to 100%

You can definitely tell the interior is a little bit brighter in pitch dark.
Can you share what to code please?

Basic if you're on BimmerCode... see below.

If not search ambient and look for Helligkeit (brightness) in German

Update on the Ambientmods one.

One side kept falling out it was getting very annoying. It was then I noticed slight damage to the leather at the end where they were inserted so I just removed them.

Im so happy with mine - thanks everyone for the suggestions.
There is no way these will damage the leather. I just checked mine. Perhaps The amazon ones are higher quality and it’s worth paying a bit more? Thoughts?

To all interested...

Tommy L Garage covers this in detail on his YouTube channel & includes links to the product. They are plastic strips that slide over the lights w/o any additional modifications.

For what changing the light wire cables? You could change easily the SMD LED into the door fairing and those available into different colors. Changing takes not more than 10 mins per side.

Have any pics of the layout of the SMDs behind the door? I'm have some experience with soldering, interested in tackling this.
