Here's a picture of my upgraded set up, Matte ("Open Pore") C.F. (https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1636977) -
This Knob, for some reason does make the throws feel shorter. It may be because it's interior (height) volume is lower than the stock Shift Knob?? I replaced the ( - Ugly!) Alcantara boot with the "Ind" leather "M - Stitch". Quote:
Quote:
The Boot, together with the Shift Knob can easily be removed. * 1. Pinch the opposite corners of the Boot frame and it is released. There is a wire attached. Disconnect. * 2. Now, simply pull straight up on Knob - a little twist may help, to complete the removal of both Boot & Knob together. You may need to release the wires from the pins on the connector. * 3. Once this is done, turn the Boot inside out, like a sock, over the Knob. Now separating the Boot from the Knob can be a little dicey but, for God's sake, put away the "Xacto"! There is a plastic ring inside the Boot that the Knob is latched onto. This plastic ring is glued onto the boot. Leave it be. So, it can be used again as a base fo your new Knob There is one large and two smaller notched clips that hold the Knob onto the stock Boot. Try to unclip these without breaking, as they are very brittle plastic. If they do break, well you've separated the Knob from the Boot!! [EDIT:] If the clips do break, the Shift Knob can be glued to the Boot - just make sure you line up where the clips used to be with the notches on the Boot - with "crazy glue". It will hold. Once installed, the shifter post will only add to its adhesion and stability. Cheers!

Hello,
I believe the connector is the same. If not, you could easily replace the connector. The voltage and resistance should be the same. Yes, "... plug and play..."! May I suggest, You simply take yours into a local dealer parts (don't buy it there!) counter, that has it in stock and compare connectors. Cheers!

Have you found anything for a custom boot?! In a similar situation: upgraded to UUC short shift, BUT doesn’t work well with the OEM boot. It keeps popping out and I removed it 😒. Need help looking for custom boots!
