Dead Rat smell after tint

Not sure if this is just a coincidence, but after having my windows tinted I now have this nasty dead rat smell in my car. I've located the source of the smell and it is coming from the trunk area. I'm thinking that perhaps the cleaning solution that the tint company used leaked onto some of the insulation causing the smell (mold , perhaps?). Anyone else experience this? And, if so, what did you do to get rid of the putrid smell.

Thanks

It's BO from the installer - It also happened to Seinfeld's BMW.

Try odor absorbers, search Amazon. Leave trunk open in the sun.

If I recall correctly, the adhesive on window film is indeed made from deceased rodents. But it may be of squirrel origin rather than rat, although that would likely give off a nutty odor.

Unlikely that anyone would have been in the trunk during the tint process, so it has to be something else.

Probably a dead rat somewhere in the vehicle. Rats love to chew on wires inside so perhaps one bite the wrong wire..

Get one of those carbon odor absorber packs on amazon. They worked great. My wife left a nectarine in the trunk which caused a sour smell that she somehow never noticed. I didnít discover the nectarine until it was the size of a raisin. Bought this and the smell went away after about a week or so. It doesnít take some time but it does eventually absorb the bad odors.

I can't tell from your avatar but if you have a coupe, he probably put the rear seats down so he could access the rear window better like my guy did.

That being said, I find it hard to believe that it's BO. It's possible the adhesive or cleaning agent is giving off a weird smell, mine did for a couple of days but not that strongly.

Have you put your seats down, opened up the trunk storage, etc. to make sure there's not a literal dead rat in your car? If it was in the shop open for a couple of hours, something may have literally crawled in and died.

Otherwise though, +1 on odor absorbers. I keep a coconut coal bag I got off Amazon in my car 24/7.

Am I the only one who doesn't know the specific smell of a dead rat?

A dead rat in the trunk area...sounds like an episode from the Sopranos.
