Carfax Confusion

Can someone explain this to me...between 09/28/18 and 08/10/2016 it shows the vehicles never being up for sale but shows a title/registration issued. Then offered for sale 11/22/16 then again on 11/25/2016, and again on 12/04/2016 then finally purchased on 1/14. This just doesnt make sense to me...granted I dont fully understand Carfax but if someone could shed some light it would be appreciated.

Trying to figure out if this was 3 actual owners or if its really 2 legit owners and the other is just shuffled between dealers for 3 months.

Owner 2 purchased in 2016 and Owner 3 purchased in 2017. That’s the data CarFax has to report.

Looks like at least 3 owners. Owner #1 doesn’t appear on the screen shot you posted but someone put those miles on it before Owner #2.

Last records mileage for Owner #1 was 9948miles. Then jumps to Owner #2 and shows 15625miles. Seems like theres something missing between there to me.

It also just randomly shows up in Colorado. Never for sale in illinois which seems odd.

Not every service event, accident or other information is reported to CarFax. They only report information that is reported to them. Owner #2 could have purchased from an out of state dealer and none of the owners may have gotten the car serviced in places that report to CarFax.

Owner #1 (unknown purchase date, but probably 2015) had the car serviced on 9/28/15 with 9,948 miles at Patrick BMW in IL. Speculation: this owner then moved to CO and then sold it.

Owner #2 purchased the car in CO and registered it on 8/10/16. He kept it only ~3 months, drove it ~5,677 miles and then sold it to Johnson Auto Plaza on 11/23/16 with 15,625 miles. They drove it ~346 miles, had it serviced on 1/12/17 at Schomp BMW on 1/12/17 with 15,952 miles and then sold it on 1/14/17 with 15,971 miles to

I don't think that Johnson Auto Plaza is considered an owner because they're a dealer.

That's my best guess.

Notice that there's no record of a service at 1200 miles, required for M car warranty, but that doesn't mean it wasn't done.

That was my thought that the original owner moved to Colorado...like a creep I'm trying to hunt him down to get in contact to at least find out.

What is odd is that "owner 2" only had it for 3 months. I guess it's possible but it just seems strange.

I did find owner #3 and got in touch. he confirmed he had it for two years, bear drove it, traded it in for an M2C.

Is this car that worth it to you? There are plenty of used F8x cars out there. If the history is questionable just go look for a cleaner example.

As reported on too many threads on here, Carfax often misses a lot and is often wrong.

Not quite put off by the actual information just wanted to see if some clarity can be gained. Unfortunately like most said, Carfax usually has misinformation which is unfortunate.
