New M4 Owner - M Button Questions
Afternoon everyone.
Picked up my 2020 SMB M4 CP on Wednesday, and am absolutely loving it so far (initial impressions + pics to follow soon). I've owned a few BMWs before, so everything feels very natural, but I'm struggling to get the M buttons/car set-up exactly how I want it. Ideally I'd like 3 setups I can get to easily and quickly: Relaxed: Efficient Engine/Comfort Suspension/Comfort Steering/D1 Gearbox Pressing On: Sport/Comfort/Comfort/D2 Full-on: Sport+/Sport/Sport/D3 I've currently got M1/M2 set up as the 2nd/3rd modes above, and when I get into the car, I hit the suspension and steering buttons twice to get me to Efficient/Comfort/Comfort/D1. This works up to a point, except that when I come back out of M1/M2 (by pressing the M1/M2 button for a 2nd time), the car defaults to its start-up mode (Efficient/Sport/Sport/D1), which is a pain, as I have to go through the whole process of pressing the suspension and steering buttons again. I'm pretty sure there's no way of setting the default start-up mode, but I wondered if there was another way to exit from an M mode, that would take me back to the same set-up I had before I went into M mode? I realise I'm probably asking too much from the car, but thought I'd put the question out there just in case I've missed something obvious! |

No, you haven't missed anything, that's just the way it is.
I fully agree, it's a pain. The easiest solution is set one of the M buttons as your default normal mode. Activate it as soon as you start the car. Then have the other M button for a compromise of sport settings. It's not ideal, as you say. But at least it's easy to just switch between M1 & M2 for probably 90% of your driving.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe you could make a 2nd profile and program those 2 m buttons as well. Then you have your 2, and can swap profiles to get another 2. A pain in the ass to me though. I rock the standard start up till warm, my m1 is sport/sprt/s2 and my m2 is sport+, sport+, and s3. I have full time sport suspension and not electronic dampers so thats the extent of it for me.

Yeah the default setup is annoying - and the fact you can't change it.
I have M1 setup for day to day ( efficient engine comfort suspension etc ) and M2 is race mode! ( sport plus and M HUD etc ).

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I don't think that's possible...
Also, as I've got 2 years manufacturer warranty left, I don't want to take the risk (I've heard BMW is getting much stricter with rejecting warranties for anyone who has overridden coding) |
