Is it just me, or do the cloth seats look kinda' great here? Terrible picture, but the pattern almost looks like an extension of the carbon fiber design element in the interior. I guess that's BMW's intent? I have to decide whether or not I'm pulling the trigger on exec package within the next few weeks here. Just can't see not having Hud, but would be perfectly happy with cloth.

The only justification for cloth seats is weight savings.

I think that they look great as well. I doubt that they save an appreciable amount of weight. It'd be great if the cloth seats weren't powered. I bet that there would be more takers then.
I wonder if the leather bolsters use the same leather as on the other seats or is it something more durable. |

I don't see any problem with cloth interior.
E92's out there with cloth still look brand new on the inside, while some others with leather are creased, cracked and wrinkled. Plus cloth grips better. I could totally see myself in it, but love SO leather way too much. |

A BMW driver at the performance driving center in SC said the speed cloth looked fantastic. The comment was unsolicited. I think a stripper with speed cloth would be just fine. It may surprise the leather fanatics. The leather seats look fab as well.

What is the estimated "weight savings"? for the, "it's for weight savings, period" fella' from Austin?
I don't think there's really any such thing as a "base" model M3 anymore with everything BMW has included. I switched over from the 4 series GC because I was adding M'ish options and feeling like a poser about it, not to mention paying near M money for a non-M car. I'm just really torn on the seats. Whether you pay for leather or not, you're getting a plastic back on the seats, and something about cloth just makes the seat a more logical whole to me. If the appearance is great when viewed alone vice in pictures side by side with a leather seat, then what's the big deal? I live in the desert where the leather is going to be brutal, especially in the black I'm selecting. So many factors point to cloth for me, but I want the damn HUD. Also can't see paying for a package that includes leather, and then opting out of it, essentially over paying for executive package. The lack of ala carte options is pissing me off. |

Having had SC seats in my '05 ZCP, I can definitely tell you that they are easier to maintain, they wear better than leather and they are cooler. |

I considered the cloth seats simply due to the Florida heat and humidity. Every single day I leave Crossfit like I just jumped in a pool. I'm sure my leather isn't going to be too happy looking after a few years with the sweat bath it gets every day. I guess that's what Leather Master's is for.

I do, but that doesn't help much. We're talking 95% humidity, no air conditioning in the gym, 100+ degrees, and a massive amount of effort equals sweat crazy. I've thought about buying a beater car just to drive home from Crossfit.

Leather also has the unwanted quality of getting hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
I seriously would have considered cloth but if you want HUD or keyless access then your only option is to get the executive package. Feels wasteful to opt out of the leather in the exec package if you are already paying for it. |

Wow, love it! The speed cloth seats in the E9X were always my favorite as well - they're substantially more comfortable IMO and they hold you better in corners.
