Good idea.

Somebody came up with a protective cover for the 911/Cayman guys with Porsche's carbon sport bucket seats but I seems so sofa cover-esque.

I also have the kid thing (10 month old currently) working against the idea of cloth. The e9x cloth looked like it could be cleaned up easily. But all of these little holes of white (seemingly anyway)... not so much.

I think the pictures really obscure its subtleties. I want to see it in person.

I'm a big fan of cloth too. How does it feel? Can you post some real pics instead of the studio ones?

Thanks.

They are grippier under hard cornering and braking, they are cooler when you get in and don't you sweat as much. You don't need heaters in winter, they are rare over here in the US. Leather is nice too. It smells good but it's hot, cold and slippery. That is why race cars don't use leather anymore. Alcantara is the best but doesn't wear as well as cloth.

Ok, so I can see how it looks. Anyone know if it's abrasive like the E90/92 M3 speed cloth?

The cloth honestly looks just like my old '11 WRX.. I just couldn't do it on an M4. That's JMO though.

Thanks for the closeups, in other pics the white looked like holes in the cloth, but now it's clear that the white is just woven in.

And it also looks like the leather used in the cloth seats are dakota, or something more durable than merino

EAS's AY project car has cloth seats. Look at the sponsor's section for good pictures.

Have em, love them... Wait that needed caps lock on, cloth seats, I LOVE them! I've sat in both, if each were free, I still go cloth, all day. They are sick.

Thanks for putting my mind at ease guys. I was afraid I'd dislike the lack of leather wrapped dash and the feel of the cloth but I'm glad to see the speed cloth is well loved.

Is seat ventilation included with cloth? I cant find seat cooling listed anywhere on the BMW website as an option or standard equipment.

There is no seat ventilation even with the leather seats. Those small perforations are so the leather doesn't stick to you and keep you cooler.

Seriously? lol fail BMW. I thought for sure those leather perforations were vents. No wonder I couldn't find anything on the website. Well then cloth looks like a great option to me for a lot of reasons.

The only bad detail on the Speed Cloth seats for me is, that the front of the headrest is not made of leather ... would look much better !
A quick google search yielded this with the first link... Seems like it would be a godsend for GYM time, or if you're dirty in general.

I'm seriously considering getting cloth seats too. The wife complaints the leather in a hot car burns her legs when she's in booty shorts or mini skirts, and technically it's going to be her car. Little hesitant since I haven't yet seen it in person.

In my previous cars, leather without seat ventilation gets really hot. I wonder how good these little perforations in the M4 leather seats are in keeping you cool. As good as the cloth seats? So my main reason for getting cloth is for driving comfort.

As for the HUD, I've had it in a previous car and it's simply overrated. You don't really use it that much. You'll get bored of looking at it after a few months. I prefer looking at the dash for all the info.

I could be wrong but if I'm not mistaken, the M3/M4 seats aren't perforated.

The "perforation" is just a visual design feature in the leather. I don't believe it's functional perforation.

Can someone confirm this?

They are perforations (holes). Will have absolutely no cooling effect, but might drain that coke you spill in you lap.
