CF prop shaft recall

Hi Guys,

I literally got off the call from Doncaster BMW who called me to let me know my M3 ZCP had been flagged in their system for a recall for replacing the Carbon Fiber Prop Shaft. They wanted me to book the car in ASAP.

I advised them that I will do so as soon as I have more information.

Can I assume this is the same recall that’s occurring in USA? I believe they’re replacing the carbon prop shafts of the M3/4 Comp LCI with the steel versions on the later LCI2 M3/4’s.

I’m off to do some forum investigation to understand the depth of the problem.

What's the build date of your car?

I'm not sure I'm a huge fan of my fancy lightweight prop shaft being replaced by a big heavy steel unit.

I thought I read in the US recall thread (early in the thread life) they're replacing with carbon shafts?

September 2016 built

Still waiting for feedback from dealer regarding what the replacement will be. Booked in for 6th Feb so gives me plenty of time to research.
