F8X Gear indicator not showing

I recently purchased a 2015 M4 F82. And i noticed that I did not have the gear indicator displayed. the P,R,N,D, ect.

I searched the forums but it seems to be a coding issue. I looked through bimmercode and it is not an option. Also went through the idrive unit and no options for it either. Its just blank along with the drive logic. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

This looks like bad coding possibly. There is a thread on here where some tried to code an additional feature to the Kombi and in some cases, it resulted in no shift indicators or drive logic.

Take a look into the following thread, it should be able to be switched back if you have the coding capability. If not someone should be able to reset the module ie a dealer/indie.

Thank you for the reply. Yeah looks like some bad coding. Is there a remote coding that I can pay someone to do? I just don’t trust the shops around my area.

And come to think of it the original owner mentioned something about the gauge for the HUD not being there if the shift indicator is there. But no sure.

Interesting. I remember looking into removing this in 2015/2016, and it wasn't possible.

Good luck in solving it. I've gotten used to it being there now, so I don't mind it as much. But, you may want to drive around for a bit without it and see if you like it. It would be cool to be able to go back and forth a bit easier.

We had this happen before using the bootmod3 CS trans flash. The gear indicator disappeared afterwards. We ended up putting back the GTS trans flash and the indicator came back. Not sure if thats the case on your car but if you have bootmod3 you can try reflashing stock or GTS trans tune.

I did, we spoke, I would have to send the cluster in if it ended up bricking.

The 2 reputable bmw coding shop I went to both said Theres no errors and dont know why its not there. factory restarting will brick the cluster.

Honestly, this would make sense. looking through the car i saw a profile name bot3mod. Im thinking it has or had a flash on it. I might give that a shot. Was planning on getting bot3mod anyways.
