For a moment I imagined your dentist with that device in his hands

This is a real bummer that BMW isn't standing behind this. I am looking and thinking about a low miles garage gts. The selling dealer says they are not cracked and sees no reasonable to drop the price or repair.

Is this a $10,000 repair?

Each of the parts is 2600. You need two. A dealer would probably charge 10k due to installation hours.

Or just mod it like prodrive and I have done

I could find the quote, I think it was $5400 including an alignment for one repair. So maybe $10,600 to have a dealership replace both if you wanted to get the revised knuckle.

Just wrapped up a family trip and back in town. I'm going to order a replacement knuckle this week. With that in hand I'll grind the other knuckle to match the profile and send it. While I'm at it going to lower the car to track height.

Semi-related, my dad hit a deer driving out to Sebring and totaled his track prepped 135i(my first BMW ), so I'll keep the M4 around for easy drive-in drive-out track days for when he flies out here to scratch the itch. He's already getting impatient about replacing his car and it's been two weeks

Extended BMW warranty expired I think this past winter. Going to see what my local dealership has to say about a good faith warranty. Could see this really pissing me off. I'm okay with suspension rebuilds and drivetrain failures, but a knuckle failing like this is just stupid on a car marketed with heavy track use is just stupid. They still play the F82 GTS track ad in my service department on a massive TV.
How do you know when they're cracked? Can you feel it instantly?

If anyone has cracked knuckles I'm interested in buying them!
