Would it be better to stick with the MPSS in a 265/295 setup or would the 4S in say a 265/285 setup be better?
For reference I'm still running the stock Contis in 255/275 and am not a fan of them.
Thanks
I would do 265/285 4S over 265/295 MPSS.

According to Continental, the "SportContact" line of tires are bespoke tires for certain cars. Continental is a European company and it doesn't surprise me that the SC6 is prevalent to support those European cars the tire is made for, as well as other cars that use the same size tire.

The EC Sport just came out in the US last month, so keep an eye out for it.

As I am running SC6 I have no reason to look out for them.

The statement you posted (not particularly originated by you) makes no sense when looks at reality because special versions are made (and designated) for OEM, such as the special Audi Designations widely available.

Considering the large number of sizes the SC6 is available in, this goes much farther than the few models it comes OEM on. As you noted, Continental is an EU Company and the EXTREMECONTACTSPORTS are NOT AVAILABLE there. So the explanations make no sense with reality.

And Again, the SC6 beat the MPSS, not a tie.

So the statements (and reality) are nor consistent.

According to the guys at Conti, the SportContact 6 for USA market is primarily OE fitments, while in Europe and most of the rest of the world, the Sportcontact 6 is used for both OE and replacement.

Not necessarily because it was focused on the US-domestic market, but sure, it can be viewed as contradicting. I asked continental for clarification and they did state that the SC6 is offered as a replacement tire in europe, not in the US.

Alright I'm pretty livid this morning. After being told my tires shipped yesterday I got an e-mail this morning saying "TireRack oversold the rears so you're now back-ordered til 4/14". What a bunch of clowns.

Exactly. Look at the reviews. Very little difference.

Well that sucks. Am I remembering correctly that you went with the 265/285 combo? I got my UPS tracking info yesterday for Monday delivery for my 255/275 setup. Hopefully I'm not about to get a similar gut punch email...

I got 265/30/20 and 295/30/20.

If I had ordered directly through TireRack I would have been fine. It seems like they prioritize direct customers over vendors as my tires were ordered well before another guy I knows and his all shipped.

My fronts are at the shop just have no rears.

That explains it.

They make a bigger profit selling direct instead of wholesale.

I can see where orders up to stock arrival would bump you in the queue.

This is what I get for trying to save the $80 on tax and not just ordering direct.

Anyway the guys at Butler tire think they can get me a set by next week. They are not who I had ordered through originally.

Finally got my MP4S's today. I wanted to put them next to my PSS to see what differences there was in the tread design other than the obvious side wall design. There are several changes in the tread pattern as well as tread design placement. Here's a side by side pic with the inside outside orientations matched.

That's a very large tire compared to your front! What wheels are you putting those on? Looking forward to pics installed. I ordered a set of MP4S directly from Discount Tire yesterday, they should be here next week!
