i think the trouble starts after you pass 600hp ( flywheel ) pure turbos etc

What do you think BMW factory or engineers didnt solve this problem for their new M4 models? (if its a really problem)
Can we order the new crank gear for replacement? Or we must use completely after market solutions ?

Maybe BMW doesn't care about fixing issues. BMW does care about selling cars. They may be willing to pay for a few repairs under warranty and focus on the new engine having a different design.

Does the B58 use a one piece crank now? As in the sprockets are apart of the crank and not on some hub that needs to be friction pressed together.

I think he's trying to point out that the b58 has a traditional crank so no separate hub anymore

Apple to oranges. B series are rear timing chain engines and if the n47 is any bit of a lesson to learn from for this setup the problems are more widespread than s55 sprocket/hub setups.

The design of the B58 or the new s58 will have solved the crank hub but something else will fail...

Update for those who have questions around it locking and "deforming" stock parts etc

The idea that it slips then grips -like a limited slip differential or the like- is incorrect. It doesn't slip. If it slips, you have already lost correct time.

To get it to slip with the spline lock and the CBC you'll break things first. We broke our test stand trying to get it to let go.

It's a great solution, easy to install and very robust.

I'd like to see a response to your original post. You bring up valid points and I have yet to see base measurements for the stock component compared to other "solutions" on the market.

I´m interested in buying this solution from VTT. But you say it's 8 or 9 hours of workshop and it's been eight or nine days, I'm confused.

Any updates?
