Cool My Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Full Review

The new Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio is back to the sports sedan segment. It's 2.9-litre V6 turbo engine has 505 Bhp and 600 NM of torque and it can go from 0-60mph /0-100 KM in just 3.9 seconds.

Is it better than its rivals, the BMW M3, Audi RS4, Mercedes AMG C63S?

You've already claimed the RS5 to be better than the M3/4. I'm not even going to bother watching this. Lol

Nice review...I finally got a chance to sit in one (didn't drive it) and man, it really felt special and racy.

The Alfa QV is a great car. There were some things I wish could be better (as expected with a first gen car), but overall a nice ride.

I considered it based on looks etc. at one time when they first arrived. I'm simply not convinced the reliability is there yet. They haven't been out long enough. It's a first gen car. And I've already started hearing things about problematic electrical. Also something about the brake pedal. Given Alpha's past reputation, I would wait a couple more years on this one.

A simple stage 1 tune on the Comp pack M3 will clear up any confusion at decision making time

Really? You're comparing articles that basically Cliff Note like this:

1. "...already having issues with the Giulia pretty much as soon as they got it"
- The M3 rides harsh

2. "...a warning light for the electronic throttle control lit up at around 2,400 miles, quickly followed by a check engine light. Then the same warning lights lit up again at 4,100 miles during track testing."
- The M3 rides harsh and makes noises

3. "...dealer replaced the fuel pump under warranty at around 5,040 miles"
- The M3 needed new wheel bearings

4. "They diagnosed the sound as bearing noise from the differential. Okay. The solution, after the dealer consulted with Alfa corporate support, was to replace the whole diff."
- The M3 rides harsh

5. "...replace a differential after just 10,000 miles. Incredible."
- We don't like the M3's exhaust noise at startup

Yeah... people are saying. Somewhere a Julia forum is missing it's fanboy.

C&D complained about both cars but somehow only their complaints about the QV are valid? And that makes me the fanboy, lol! One could pick apart their arguments as well, like the diff getting replaced. They heard a noise and Alfa replaced it... no indication that it was broken or actually needed replacement. And a poor dealer experience, a windshield chip, or tire bubble all somehow getting lumped into a conclusion that the car is unreliable. And do you really want to go down the road of fuel pump issues?

Here’s the Cliff’s notes version of their M3 review, and note by the way, the weird sounds the dealer could not figure out or fix:

“They’ve also reported many strange different noises. Some clunking sounds are reported, but was remedied by the dealer under warranty by replacing some wheel bearings. Also, they have been hearing a strange screeching sound when turning left at lower speeds, something neither they nor the dealer can figure out. Another thing reported is the exhaust noise at startup which was said to sound like the muffler doing ” its best impersonation of a garbage disposal filled with rocks”.

These are not the hallmarks of a $70,000 car from one of the world’s greatest car manufacturers. We all know that high-performance cars come with their little quirks and compromises, but this makes the BMW M3 sound downright unreliable.”

I'm not saying that both reports aren't valid but noises vs. an actual mechanical "nightmare" as they put it?

I've heard crazy screeching noises too from time to time (as I'm almost certain most all M3 owners do). You know what it is? A little rock in between the brake rotor and dust guard. It does sound like the world is coming to an end it's true. But it's just that. A pebble. The muffler noise is subjective.

You're not a fanboy because you drive a Giulia. You're a fanboy because you come to an M3 forum and throw stones because you drive something else that happens to be the topic of discussion on an M3 forum. I hope you don't have any issues with your Alfa. It is an awesome car. I had the choice just like anyone else. I made a decision based on vehicle/manufacturer history, the fact that it was a first model year production vehicle (which I never buy just on principle) and some of the ergonomics having driven both.

And in 16k miles and a year and a half on my '17 M3 I haven't had any issues with the fuel pump or anything else for that matter. ?
