I love mine. I had just about everything (well within this price point) on the table as an option but I kept coming back to the M3. It looks better than anything else out there to me.

So far it's the most tunable, reliable, & simply yields more power than any M3 before!
We have never seen a higher production hp/tqe rated M motor to date & to be at 600+ hp/tqe with a couple bolt-ons and a laptop is amazing!!! It's just another example of evolution! I can't wait to see wear technology takes us in the G Series!!! A race to the lowest 0-60 times ???

The F80/82 will have a great legacy as a track and circuit racing car. As the prices come down more and more will go on the track.
Stock, it is by far the fastest and best sorted Stock M car. Great torquey engine, extrmeley robust and well sorted cooling systems. The chassis and suspension is very underated, so much better than any prior M3, and leaves other beemers like M2 for dead. All you have to do is see the lap times people are getting out of the car. Then, on topof that the car is easily tunable, and there are good mods available. The car will live on as a track staple for many years to come The M2 competition with the same engine will be a track classic too. |

The F80 will go down as one of the best looking M cars of all time. They nailed everything about it IMO.
I'm in the camp that doesn't think a car needs to be s V8 to sound good. With MPE the F8x is an enjoyable sound - not sure why it has so much hate. Everyone who drives in my car comments about how awesome it sounds. To each their own, but the E46 was bashed for sound and today no one really cares. You think it sounds bad? Wait until they electric generations come. Performance in its class and dollar for dollar is maybe the best the M3 has been since the E30. My only gripe is the steering, and standard colour options. One side note with the elimination of analog tach in the next and all future generations makes the current gen (and all prior) more special. Electronic dash = instantly dated looking (in a bad way) and will never be looked at as "classic" 90% sure I'll buy the next generation 100% sure I'll keep this one until it doesn't make sense to maintain it anymore. Also manual! |

the fact that you can buy an f80 and spend about $1500 on dp/tune and have a dailyable, insane looking 6spd 4door sedan well into the 500whp+ mark is enough to say this car is legendary tbh

Regarding the sound, it’s loud enough and if you’ll forgive its flat tone, you’ll like it just fine. I don’t like it precisely because of that tone - a great exhaust note is more ‘melodious’ and varies its tone/pitch at higher revs. I do agree that future buyers will probably forgive it for that, especially as newer cars continue to suck more.
What the F8x, and most of today’s sporty cars, will be panned for in future generations, is this fucking burble faked overrun shit. Just like the fart cans of the 90’s, we’ll all wonder what the hell we were all thinking with that. |

All the folks on here saying the M3/4 is available in the 30's, I want you to go and see the car in person. Trust me, I have been down that road back in the day. All these cars listed with the shady mom and pop buy/sell car dealers are in bad shape and often have some story to them. And for the ones listed with 75k+ miles, seriously who will risk buying a BMW with that many miles. If you are in the market for a clean under 50k M3/4, it will still cost you above 40k at a minimum. And don't post what you see on the web. It's a whole different story in person.

Ignoring that this is a generalization with no statistical data, please consider that they made quite a few. Many times, people purchase cars they cannot afford, especially when they are the "hot" car at the time.
I love mine and will keep it until I get the G80.

If you find M3s under or near 40k they will likely have:
- sunroof - high mileage - dirty carfax - no options (no LED, adaptive, HUD) - undesirable color combo (black/black, Austin yellow, sakhir) I have driven all the M3s extensively except the E30. And this is the best one in my opinion. For every 1 thing the previous generations did good I can find 10 other things the f80 does better. Personally I like the active sound in it, and my weekend is a 458 with tubi exhaust.

e49 M3 has a horrible rasp to it. I do not like the sound of that engine at all and its still popular.
