Newer iDrive/Screen for 2015 M4
Hey all,
I've became a little jealous of the pretty new iDrive found on the 2018 M3/4 and was wondering what the best way of going about a retrofit would be. Apple CarPlay would be nice but isn't required, do I need to get the new screen in order to do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

You'll need a whole new head unit and screen and get coding. You'll lose all connecteddrive features.
Or you can get one of those Android screens that have the same theme of ID5/ID6

So you'll have the Android UI, Apple Car Play, and stock infotainment to switch between at the same time. |

Also, in the newer models, the reversing camera should work as usual, only caveat being that it'll go to the stock i-drive UI to do so, and revert back to the android or Apple CarPlay UI afterwards. As to whether there is any noticeable lag or not from changing between the UI's, I'm unsure of, but wouldn't really expect any. FYI, I haven't actually used this but there are a couple YouTube videos about it and it's some of the things I've come to understand when researching it myself. |
