Arrow Zurich drop off?

Anyone done it? How convenient is it? Does it involve someone driving my car cross country like the Italy drop off? How much time will it add to getting stateside over dropping off in Munich?

Thanks.

I'm waiting for my re-delivery, but having a reservation the process was painless (aside giving the keys an car back part).
Easy enough to find - good directions from the on-board navi.

If you're going back to the Zurich HB it's very easy, but also looked like the Zurich airport was practically right next door. So, train is convenient, while air looks to be the same.

No idea on re-delivery time estimate; I'll tell you I'm hoping its the shortest after German locations, but who knows.

I think he meant the Hofbahnhoff (sp?) which is the train central station. IIRC the central station was like a 5-10 min ride from the airport.

BMWF22 is correct - HB is hauptbahnhof (sp?) at least in Munich and Zurich. The cities HB being the larger or main station in the by my experience.

So you dropped in Zurich? Are you on a ship yet?

I was planning on dropping in Munich since I figure that site gets the most drops, but would love to drop in Zurich.

Dropped in Zurich on Tuesday 5/26/15. I made it a goal to not inquire on shipping status until somewhere in the middle of June, so where the car is at right now is anyones guess. If I can hold out until 6/19 to check I'll be almost 4 weeks from drop off - the car may even be on a boat and nearing me! I'd prefer to be pleasantly surprised than obsessive about the car daily, but we'll see if I can wait.

Great. Thanks man. Only reason I am considering Zurich is that is has great direct connections from Philly. Tickets I have a looked at are under $800 whereas to Munich they are all over $1200 plus they include a stop. Nothing beats a direct flight

That's too bad but I totally get it. I waited 2 weeks before I checked last ED. Was just curios if it was similar or took a much longer time.

US Air/American have direct flights to Munich. I can assure you of that. But yes, $1200.

Yeah that's $1500 now that's $1800 saved for the three of us if we fly to Zurich and rent a car to Munich. So far that's making more sense.

The Zurich drop-off worked well enough for me last month. Gondrand (the shipping agent) recommended a nearby car wash which may or may not be automated, but I happened to spot an automated car wash at the Zurich airport, just minutes from their offices. I prefer to personally hand wash my cars but we used an automated wash like this twice during the ED and the results were excellent. Cost was something like 15 Euros, depending on which options you selected.

BP at Zurich Airport

As others said, the train station is a short walk from Gondrand and you can be at Zurich Airport in minutes.

I'm curious why does the Carwash matter? I didn't wash my car before dropping it off.

I believe it is so that they can capture and down all the minor defects/imperfections, if any.

You mean like on the paint?

The car goes through multiple QA/QC before it leaves the factory. I can imagine what they would catch that the factory didn't.

No I mean the possible damages caused by you driving around town after delivery. Minor stuff like door dings, scratches, scuff marks or curb rash, etc.

I am not sure if they fix it then but I think it helps identify shipping damage vs condition it was received in prior to shipping. All in all, everything gets fixed.

Understood....that's rough. I was wanting a slightly less expensive flight using British Airways (on a nice big comfy 777) but that meant a stopover at Heathrow before heading to Munich. My wife was having none of that. So it was the non-stop US Air/American flight out of PHL. Something to be said for a non-stop flight though.

I had LogInOut do the full hand wash and wax for 40 EU....but that being said, dropping the car off dirty DID make for a slight challenge when doing the walk around condition report. However, they are very thorough. The woman doing it carefully looked over every little bit of the car and she once said "Ohhhh that looks like a scratch. They will repair that." But then she put her finger to it, and it was just a smudge of dirt.

I can see why washing it prior to drop off helps with the condition report.

But I read from someone here that also used the hand wash/wax service and said the guy that does it is a detailer that really takes pride in his work (he watched the process). Seemed worth it.

All damage, even scratches and curbed rims are repaired prior to re-delivery. Even though the contract you sign specifically states that curbed rims would NOT be repaired, all anecdotal evidence has shown that it has been, however.

Looks like Rowan is the only one who can confirm but he doesn't want to torture himself by knowing where the car is at now..

Come on Rowan - help a brother out...
