Steering Wheel Change
I can't get the bolt off to save my life. I've used so much WD-40. I'm guessing the black line on the bolt is not from the factory and the previous owner overtightened it, right?

Mine didn't have a black line on the bolt when I replaced my steering wheel. It did take me awhile to get it loose. I suggest getting a second set of hands to hold the wheel while you loosen the bolt.

Mine didn’t have a black line either and I too had a difficult time when I changed to the OEM V2 steering wheel. Solved by having a friend hold the wheel firmly from the passenger seat while I unbolted from the drivers seat. Good luck!

Yes have you tried impact? Can't necessarily create that moment of torque by hand

You might have better luck at any Autozone or Advance Auto Parts or at O'Reilly's

I had to buy a whole set of sockets at autozone when I did mine. 16mm is uncommon to be found alone for some weird reasons.

Also, the cordless 1/2 impacts have really changed life over the last 8 years or so of working on your own car. Even the lesser expensive brands (like Ryobi) are actually quite good.

Changed out my steering wheel this past weekend and didn't have a 16mm socket on hand, but did have a 5/8" socket which worked perfectly fine along with a long handle ratchet.

Use a breaker bar. I went out to harbor freight just to buy an oversized breaker bar for 20 bucks to get that bolt loose. Had my buddy hold on to the wheel while I used the breaker bar.

Surprised by this thread, I've changed the steering wheel on all three of my F8xs over the years and it couldn't have been easier. Hold the steering wheel with your knees, and just torque the bolt loose. Super easy.
None of my three had that black line on the bolt either. Good luck. |

Little heat should loosen it. Grab a propane torch at Home Depot or something and hit it for 5-10 seconds and try it. If that doesn't work, 15-20 Seconds etc

What you want to buy is called BLASTER. That'll get it loose if you don't wanna heat it
