if you want something that wont depreciate. You gotta buy something older that was produced in limited quantities.
I think Op is trying to wish for this rs5 to hold value like a gt3rs so he can keep swapping into random cars

Worrying about depreciation is this insidious thing that ruins your car ownership experience, anyway. You’ll end up constantly worrying about mileage, diminution of value through fender benders, market sales trends, etc. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

It’s even worse if you have a car that “doesn’t depreciate” like a GT3. Because you’ll have to never drive the thing if you want it to not depreciate.

If depreciation is truly a top factor for you, then lease. You won’t avoid depreciation, but you’ll know exactly how much your expense will be

EDIT: i just noticed after posting that OP has owned 5 2018 MY cars, lol. I won’t presume to lecture you about how you use your money, but now i understand why you’re sick of paying for depreciation expenses...

Without a doubt my RS3 has depreciated less than either of my old F80s did. I paid 57k for it (10% off sticker) and it's now 14 months old with 10k miles. I could easily sell it for 53k.

Conversely, I paid 70k for my last 17 tanzanite ZCP M3 with an 80k sticker brand new. Car was immaculate with 7k miles and I got 62k for it at 11 months old.

Just some info on Audi and holdback:

Msrp to invoice is about 5% so slighter lower margin than BMW (circa 6%) but Audi's holdback is a whopping 9% or close depending on new car sales so they have about 14% in the car in total while BMW runs just under 10% overall (9.70 or so).

So when they say 10% off they still have more in the kitty. RS5's are slow sellers no doubt.

I only have one sampling that recently sold at the auction but it was a near perfect car with 5k miles on it and it sold for 74k. So the SB is too new to rate.

Here is a list of the latests Non CS M4 (MY 2019) sales at Manheim. These are bare ball prices pre recon, books, fees, etc but it gives one perspective pre retail sales at the dealer (msrp's unknown):

Back in 2007/08, When the only RS you could get is RS4 and RS6... Back then you could say it held its value far better than an M. Today, Every model has an RS package... Just like M. It's too diluted, and all over the place.

In the end, buy what you like. They'll all depreciate pretty quick. Screw it. You only live once.

My local mechanic said to stay away from Audi, they have so many engine issue and that what is his shop all the time especially the 4.00 v8 in the RA is nice when under warranty or first 1 year and it all downhill from there. I was looking at a rs5 prior to my m4 purchase.

Wait for the avant. I was behind the 4 door rs5 for a few miles and did not even realize it. Road presence is underwhelming and its very quiet. F85 is one of the loudest & capable factory suvs on the road. However who knows what the f85 market will be like once the f95 drops. I traded my f85 in May.

New rs6 avants are only going to be built to order. So you won’t see any of them just sitting in the lot.. maybe once in a blue moon if buyer backs out.

That's what everyone hopes, but you never know. A friend just sold his 991.1RS at a loss (e.g. below MSRP sale) and it was a mint car with few miles.

Personally, I'm not impressed with the 718 GT4. I pulled my deposit recently after waiting 3 years and am holding out for the flat plane crank v8 goodness of the C8 z06 (or will modify by current 6TT further and keep hanging on to it)

I just took a quick look on carfax, and 2015 RS5 are mid $30k used cars all day long. I don't see the evidence of RS holding value at all
