F8x long term owners -- issues so far?

Now that the G20 (and likely the M version) are MT-less, it's getting more appealing to hold on to our manual tranny cars for a while. In the words of silvergray545 though, "if they start popping turbos every 50k like the N54s, shit will get expensive."

For you higher mileage owners, have you had any issues so far? Looking to get an idea of how things are going to shake out in the long term.

Have you taken a look through some of these threads?

https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=23782693

At any rate, as far as I know, there have been very few with major problems. My personal 2015 M3 has 96,000 miles on it and has been almost completely trouble free, with no engine problems to speak of.

96 thousand miles is just fantastic to hear and I’m guessing a few of those miles were tracked?

Is this true, the G series Ms will not offer a MT?

I did see there were quite a few of the more speculative/lower mileage threads, but was hoping to see if anyone drives 24k a year like I do and has really racked them up to get some higher mileage feedback. Up to you if you think the request is redundant

Edit: Just saw your comment about 96k miles -- that's great!

As far as BMWs go, especially ///M cars, the F8x appears to be incredibly well put together. The only real issues I've heard of are the crank hub (but if you don't tune the problem is almost nonexistent), and the oil cooler getting holes punched in it due to placement on the vehicle.

I've searched these forums quite a bit and besides those two issues, I don't see any repeat offending issues and certainly nothing major. These are confidence inspiring vehicles!!

72k miles. 6MT.
Nothing crazy. My intercooler unit was leaking but I think there was a bulletin for it. I was out of warranty by the time they caught it otherwise they would have fixed it.

Regular maintenance as scheduled. No issues.

I have 74k miles with a tune. This car has been strong, I had one limp mode issue because I bounced the car off redline. This year, I have changed the spark plugs, rear diff fluid and dct fluid. Only complaint is the speaker rattle and being fully catless is messing up the AW paint around the exhaust.

Had mine for 3 yrs in the upcoming month. Very solid build. Only thing I had to change is new rear tires. Reliable and solid!

I did 30k a year on my departed m4. Very solid car with almost no issues. As a guy who has been driving M's since the E36, I can attest that the F8x chassis is the most reliable M so far.....by a long shot.

Have had my M4 since April, 2016. haven't had any problems that weren't self inflicted.

The lease is up, as i got it as a transfer, and I have a 2018 getting delivered next Thursday! love the F8x!

Do you have aftermarket exhaust tips? My bms tips extend pretty far out and I don’t get any exhaust residue on the bumper.

How did you find out it was leaking?

No comment on reliability - my F80 only has 3800 miles!

But most signs point to the new M3/4 having MT available. I thought I read that in a few different places.

I've heard a bit of both, with some saying that sources told them that there's no MT. I'm hoping that's not the case. There's a Dirk Hacker quote saying that it's likely the M2 CS will be the last MT.

53k 2015 6MT F80... Only rattles, no other issues. My most "reliable" M by a long shot.
