If they did, can you imagine the ADM and extra limited availability? I can see it now...."available to 918 and Carerra GT past or current owners at this time".
C&D thinks it's just a developed version of the GT4 4.0 which will make over 500 HP. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a3...t4-rs-preview/

AP mentioned before it takes too much compromise for the car to shove that engine into the car. The GT3 engine is too different and it doesn't fit properly. Some Rennlistters says it does, AP mentioned in the video before it's the separate cooling is the problem. Not to mention the GT3 engine has a different audio characteristic when it is on the higher RPM, that isn't present in the 982 GT4. GT4 RS so far looks like Porsche's typical style of over engineering something. Exhaust + whatever they did to the RS version of the GT4 that required more cooling since they are pushing more into the engine by the side vents behind the driver. They could have done whatever they could do make it as close to the GT3's banshee howling style audio. I could be wrong but I don't see it from a financial perspective either. Regardless of how much pull AP and the Porsche GT division has, if the GT4 RS ends up being a limited run (which we don't know because Porsche doesn't like to say anything~) then doing all of that R&D just for this car is weird. As the current GT4 engine is set to be put in other cars that can use it while it took a lot of tickering on Porsche's part to make the GT3 engine legal because of the typical government mumbo jumbo. Then again, it could be Porsche doing... well Porsche stuff because they can while BMW is probably finally realizing their "new" look direction isn't good. Also, fun thing I see Rennlist people OCDing the video. The car can now hit... 105 in 2nd gear lol. Boy, if you have people bitching about tall gearing before, this is taller!

Some dude on Rennlist said (I am lurking) some dealership sold an allocation for the GT4 RS at 100k ADM. That is excessive but I think the average will be AT least 50k+. I asked before and was given an number but I choose not to. Price wise, with ADM this car will easily be above the current 992 GT3 price.

Porsche has done this before, with their 997 gt3rs 4.0. AP said the company made no money on it. It was basically all of the parts left over from the cup cars of that generation. A true parts bin special. The info is in the more recent TOTAL 911 RS buyers guide. My guesstimate is that they had to unload their inventory. now of course it's one of the most desirable 911's of all time lol. Porsche's margins were small on the GT4 too. I guess the companies bread and butter are VW products? |

It would be more impressive if they managed this with the current GT4 engine, the 9A2 Evo, because it would prove how flexible their current engine structure is. If they can do this and produce that type of sound from it, close to the GT3's race inspired Flat Six noise. THAT would be impressive. Since they managed to bump the RPM to 9k instead of the 8,800k of the normal GT4. We will see soon.

I do somewhat. The G8X shows us the chassis isn't the issue but rather the looks and size. The G42 should fix both of those, although not exactly perfect as it will still be larger than the last 2er and heavier. That being said I would only get it in manual form and even still have to mod it as modern BMW manuals are just okay, but much better than the ZF which is not as good as the DCT.

I think BMW is outsourcing their design team to the local elementary school. Like seriously, some of these cars just look down right goofy. I don’t care how fast they make them, they literally look like derps… makes it hard to take them seriously when I see them IRL
