Will any company make a single Midpipe retaining the secondary cats? This paired with a catless downpipe will be asking for state ref

I've asked a few vendors/manufacturers about thoughts on how to keep the secondary cats on either the single mid or an EL midpipe setup (mostly because I want to get rid of the catt'd DPs and maintain some level of reduced exhaust smell).

So far, I've had zero luck coming up with a decent option. Which sucks a ton.

I've driven behind catless DP and single midpipe F8Xs and even in comfort (valves closed) the smell is noticeable to everyone around them. Any cop will pull you over in a heart beat. Not to mention you can't have any non car people passengers because they'll constantly complain about the smell

No, because the secondary cats don't really do much anyway. Cats work best closest where gasses are hottest, which is why primaries are where they are.

Keep your cats on and pair with the single mid. If you need more sound change the rear section too.

That's sounds the most logical but I have everyone else telling me the opposite (not that you should trust random uneducated peoples opinions) they say the secondary cat reduces most of the smell. I'm currently catless resonated downpipe with stock everything else and the smell is barely noticeable.

I ran catless DPs and the AA single mid during the summer a couple years back. Only took about 2-3 weeks before it was simply too annoying dealing with the smell. Sitting with windows rolled down was essentially impossible because of the fumes and also how the odor seemed to cling to clothing the rest of the day. The final straw was realizing how terrible it was also making my garage smell at all times, even if the car wasn't parked inside.

Definitely understand that, as the efficiency is tied to temp - whole point behind the cold start sequence.

My biggest reason for trying it out was to cut down on as much odor as possible, while also providing the benefits of a catless DP setup. Pretty sure the elements in my AR Design catt'd DPs are either shot or on the way out, as the exhaust smell seems to be progressively more noticeable (plus, the whole issue a few weeks ago finding a couple pieces of what looked like corrugated metal sitting in one of the exhaust tips).

Is this the same 3.5" midpipe as the AA or VRSF design?

+1

for the best sound, i recommend high flow catted downpipes + the single midpipe

Yes it's 3.5'' piping.

Fitment is excellent but tight as with any large single mid pipe. We also include our F brace to give extra clearance without having to use any washers or spacers. Lastly, we also stand behind our prefect fitment guarantee.

Most people are adding midpipes strictly for the sound change and sound increase it provides. Leaving the secondary cats would pretty much eliminate both of those things.

Just purchased this mid pipe to mate to my catless dp's and ZCP muffler. Hopefully the sound trumps the smell. Couldn't pass on this price
