Scaler unit. Coding was quick, easy, no issues. Yeah I’ll snap some pics in a bit.

Haha definitely true. You are the first known user of this adapter. I may be the second, and I only bought mine because of you!

Excellent pictures. Thank you for sharing them.

The fitment with the full leather dash appears to be exactly like mine. On the lower left side, the display abuts directly against the dash (meaning, the display does not clear the leather dash, even by a hair, but rather sits right against it). As a result, the display does not sit entirely flush in that corner. (I have removed and reseated the display to try to improve the fitment, but I was unable to improve it.)

In terms of the map resolution, your pictures make clear that the LG "scaler" display shows the map data at 1440x540, as the text and graphics are larger than on my MGU display, which shows the map data at 1920x720. So I guess the choice of buying the scaler or the MGU display comes down to your preference.

If you like higher resolution computer displays with the graphics and text smaller but with more data visible at one time, the MGU display is the right choice. But if you prefer the text and graphics to be larger and generally more consistent with the look and feel of the other UI elements of ID 6 at 1440x540, then the scaler unit is the way to go.

Has anyone else bought the BimmerTech 10.25" display adapter? If so, please post pics and tell us what display unit you bought.

I never use the BMW nav, only Waze on CarPlay.

My guess is that after sometime the screen will “settle in” more and hopefully end up flush. It’s not significant enough to be bothersome IMO and I’m pretty anal about everything on my car, it’s not bugging me.

It seems to me that they didn’t design this thing with the full leather dash in mind. Oddly enough, the display still looks level. It would drive me crazy if it looked unlevel!

That looks absolutely superb.

I got my screen off eBay today and I mocked it up in the car. It’s gonna look so oem plus

Just need the adaptor to arrive now.

OEM+ is an excellent way to put it because that’s exactly what this upgrade accomplishes. It’s awesome. Completely refreshes the look and feel of the dash but not in a cheesy third-party way. The display looks like it could have been a factory option.

DHL just delivered it

€85 in taxes on top of the €300 to bimmertech!

Mental money but the end result will be cool.

I’m going to install later but I’m still in the dark as to how to code it

Nice!!! If you bought the SCALER display, coding is simple. Do you have BimmerCode and an OBD adapter? If so, in the head unit ECU enter expert mode and change the parameters to those on the attached pic.

Before you do the coding, your display will be completely black. This is normal. Once you complete the coding, the head unit will reboot and your display will power on.

And, while you are there, I would also change the display brightness control option. Here is a post I did about that: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=31002618

Superb. I’ll get that app and try it.

I’m all set to go but I think the CarPlay widescreen coding is stopping it.

Any advice?

Ahhh. This means you have a replacement head unit. BimmerCode does not allow you to code a non-original head unit. kubax86 can remote code the head unit for you.

The head unit is the original. I just got the $50 CarPlay activation from Bimmer remote

I’m sure I’ll be able to have both now that I have the massive screen ! lol
