In the end, it's just a car. It will get damaged or in some type of accident. Enjoy it while you can!

I keep seeing these threads, but a quick glance at Autotrader suggests prices are roughly 5k lower than they were 18 months ago when I was in search of my car (was considering both M3 and M4). Sure, you can get one in the low 40s if you're willing to except a stripper, damage history, or high miles. The auction values thread seems to confirm this as well - the sky is not falling. Especially for the M3, which seems to hold value better.
Additionally, the inrush of lease returns doesn't matter as long as people keep buying at current prices in the used market. |

I thought the same thing! Nothing in that price range could even come close to replacing it. I can see having this car for a loooooooong time.

Just wait a little bit. Once the tariffs go into place used values will go up. The price of new cars will not be worth it even with dealers absorbing some costs.

This is exactly what i dealing with. My 2016 M4 with 14k miles is only at $48k at lease end. So I decided im just gonna buy it instead of returning. Lease is up end of Aug.

You're right, and I almost did...but then decided ED made the new car worth it. And I was right.

Seems like the general consensus is people are seeing high 40's for 2016's. I'm in the same boat right now considering trading for a M2C, but don't want to take a bath.
What do you guys think would be offered on trade in for a '16, non ZCP, static suspension but otherwise loaded. Full leather, exec, drivers assistance etc. ?

Agree that would be true if the proposed tariffs turned out to be long term. However, I'm pretty sure that a lot more Benz are sold in this country then F150s are sold in Germany. The entire EU GDP even including the UK is less than the GDP of the US. I'm fairly confident that we will win this one, but more importantly I think the Germans know that too. The tariffs won't last.....imho of course.

I just traded in my 2015 M4 and my 2016 RAM diesel truck for a Porsche. Here are the numbers:
2015 M4 6MT. 17k miles, lower optioned car but in good shape. Original msrp: $69K, bought new for $69K Trade in: $40K 2016 RAM 2500 diesel. 33K miles, good shape but bed was beat to hell Original msrp: $69K, bought new for $56K Trade in: $48K Shocking how much better the truck held it’s value vs. the BMW
