PS4S Steering vs PSS
Hi all
In searching for feedback on these tires, some posters complained about mushy steering feedback and lack of directness after switching to the PS4S. Grip improved but at a loss to overall feel which we have little of in the first place. Is this the general consensus or just a minority view for those that have the PS4S? Thanks 18 f80 zcp |

I put a set of Continental ExtremeContact Sports on my Z06/Z07 Vette last month before I sold it. Previously on Michelin PSS. Grip was good but it really softened the ride.
I wouldn’t go that route on an F8X unless you want it to feel like an F3X.

Not driving it on the limit so didn't notice mushiness, just felt strange seeing a straight sidewall in the beginning. Went with non OEM PS4S after stock PSS the car came with.
Many out there are stating how PS4S are quieter, in my case it turns out they were quiet for first 3000 miles, now it's as loud as PSS (those were quiet while new as well). If nothing else, hoping these would last little longer. |

I hope they aren't too mushy. I just got a set delivered about a week ago and have yet to get them mounted. There was like ~50 pages of praise for them in the wheel and tire subforum. Unmounted, with no pressure, the sidewalls do feel pretty soft.

Unless you're pushing the car, I don't think you'll notice a difference. Some people push the tire pressure up for 32 PSI to 34~36PSI to have a better steering feel.

Well said. OP - I think you made the right choice. In my view, they are quiet and don't think you will have a negative thing to say unless you push them to the limit every time you get in. Enjoy!! |

interesting thing regarding the tire pressures.
On my M4cs, the door jam already says 35psi front/rear. It also results in relatively even wear across the tire tread and allowed me to be on my OE PSS's through at least 20,000 miles at 3/32".

I really enjoyed the performance and feel of PSS. It felt solid on the track and didnt give up so easy. Now Im running P4s that my friends hyped up, but Im not a fan of the tire. It definitely feels mushy. Shouldnt have listened to a mustang guy.....

+1 on PS4S feeling mushy. I dont even have to push the car hard to notice. It was evident immediately when I had the PS4S put on. I will most likely go back to PSS* when I need to replace the PS4S.

I have mps4s on 666m and another set on aftermarket wheels. I bought both sets at the same time and instantly regretted it. Car feels sloppy and mushy.
Only benefit is straight line grip. I'll be going back to mpss ASAP. These things last forever. I can't kill them fast enough. Oh and awful on track. Lapping 2 seconds a lap slower than same track with MPSS. All down to cornering speed and lack of feel. Understeer on every bend. I'm in the I hate mps4s camp by the way 😂

They do if you opt for 19-20” setup like the F8X CS

The guy from tyre reviews also got a better lap time on the PS4S vs the OE PSS on an M2.

thanks for that, I was wondering because I have the 19/20 763M wheels on my F83. I was thinking they would fit, but the OEM PS4S are also wider than what came on the car originally. I haven't done much research because I won't need tires for a while though, but you think they won't rub?

The G8X spec PS4S are designed for 9.5”/10.5” wide wheels, so ideally that is what one should you use to maximize their performance, but the 9”/10” wide 763M are within the acceptable range. If I would have kept my M4cs, I would have definitely installed the G8X spec PS4S on my car.

These reviews seem so subjective. Everything I've read states the p4s are the succession to the pss. I have relatively new star spec pss in oem 19" size but am adding a set of 19" hres. I was going to go with ps4s, due to all their rave reviews. Now I'm totally confused!?
