After I listened for it that day, I haven't heard it since, you guys must have super hearing either that or mine's drowned out by the rattles and squeaks.

@TLA2319 have to agree with you - the sound resonates through the arm rest too!

Hey guys - I noticed this in my M2 today. Do we file this noise under "they all do that" or is this a problem that has a fix?
Here is a video, do your click clunk knock sound the same? Thanks! |

Mine does that or similar and so did the one I tested before buying. It didn't worry me then and I'm still not worried about it now. I hope never to worry about it...

Heh - just about to book my car in and had the same question - thanks for clarifying... Not entirely "glad" it's normal - because it's annoying, but at least it's not a problem.

Hi Guys!
I recover this discussion because my M4 seems to have that “clunk” noise increased throught time... At the beginning was a little noise, but now I’m a little bit worried about. Any news about it? |

Yes it does sound similar, it's an actuator. Mine's always done it. I have ASS coded out by default, but do turn it on if i'm stuck in stop/start traffic. As to how loud the 'clunk' is, this must vary. Mine's just noticeable. Nowhere near as loud as the one in the video clip above.

If I may, just for any future readers, my 2016 does the same thing. The only way to get around it is to either of course turn it off by pressing the button or try to figure out when the light will change or the traffic will begin to move and take your foot off the brakes 30 seconds in advance. For some reason the rpms jump up to high and the car lurches/clunks because of that. It's annoying but that's what has worked for me.

That’s how I’d describe it in mine, not as a clunky but more like a click.
I have start stop coded to remember the previous setting to have it off most of the time, and only use it when sitting in a lot of traffic (the silence is nice). |
