It retains use of the OEM Electronic exhaust valves. This can be enhanced with the Macht Schnell EVC if you want full control over the valve operation also.

Cold start has very little to do with the valves. It consists mainly of the wastegates fully open for ~30sec to heat up the primary cats as quickly as possible.

Pretty much what Tom just said but a bit more then that.

Valved means the car controls how loud the car exhaust can get. Normal cold starts w/o a Valve Controller is always efficient aka it's closed.

Valves on the exhaust will open after certain RPMs only. Most Valved Exhaust for the F8x cars are pretty pricey. That is why AA doesn't have it. That is also why people like the valve controller because they can have the valves open all the time instead of having the car open and close it depending on how you drive.

This is my favorite one. According to the comments this is car supposedly only has the cutback Remus system. Not sure I believe that, but I love the sound in this clip.

Ya this video I'm a bit skeptical on actually. Maybe it's the track.

I have yet to hear full Remus in person and I kinda want to.

Ahh nice Congrats.

I'm still waiting to hear Cat Back Remus in person but I'm settled on that at very least and MPE as back up.

I really don't think there's the best exhaust when it comes to sound. It's all matter of personal preferences.

I've used MPE for about 4 months and opted for Akrapovic Evolution + Akrapovic DP in December 2015. I could not be happier. Superb build quality and sound. It was a bit too raspy in the beginning but now I like it. Also, due to the catless DP, I can feel/tell faster turbo spool-up times = more power and/or better fuel economy. (The car breathes so much better).

+1
it depends on what user is looking for.
For some the best exhaust is the one with a clean sound without any rasp or drone. To others, it is the most aggressive, high pitched option

Not trying to bump an old thread but for all the guys wishing the AA had a valved system to make the car quieter, the valves don't quiet anything down, they are there to make the exhaust bypass the muffler so Valves only make it louder???????

Am I missing something ?

Yep, I have AA with ER downpipes, and it sure sounds good when you're getting on it, just wish I could lessen the ruckus of the cold start.

I actually enjoy the loud cold start ... Car sounds great and it only lasts for 20 seconds ( not enough time to get my neighbors complain)

In a garage, it's fine, it'll quiet down within 30 seconds before I pull out.

But outside, that cold start could be heard for a few blocks, no fun for surrounding neighbors at 6am....

Exactly, I love the cold start, especially since I have the fuses pulled as well. I wish it had that tone all the time. My friend saw my car the other day n wanted to hear it, did a cold start n gave a light rev, lots of burbles, loved it!

But I'm also coming from a straight piped GTR

Wait,

So this is with stock parts - axle-back only.

The OEM valves work by switching from efficient to sport mode?

So this system could be placed on efficient during cold start and not be too loud or driving in the neighborhood, switch to sport and sports plus and you get the noise?

Am I correct on all of this?
