Does the park distance control (for front) work for bumper stops?

Those stupid ass bumper blocks in parking spaces I mean, does the front PDC measure low enough to trust it for curbs and bumper blocks? Anyone know for sure? Thx

No. I thought it worked, but one time it said I had space but something told me to stop. I got out and I had .00001" of space before I would have wrecked the bumper. It was so close if the wind blew hard it might have hit.

Never trusted it after that (for curbs/concrete stops)

Really seems hit and miss for me. Often times the park distance sensor will go off accurately for a curb or parking space block both forward & reverse. Other times I can see it on the camera yet it's not beeping at all.

Do you have side and top view? I haven't seen a good reference in the F8X... I've seen examples of others, but it doesn't really give you a good example of the field of view from the M3/4s perspective.

I do, yes. I use the front cams when pulling into a spot and pretty much line up the yellow line with the curb. When backing in a use the cam & beeps.

The PDC at continuous tone indicates 10 inches or less distance from the object. With standard front curbs, I would stop advancing when PDC indicates yellow or park, as another suggested, rear first.

Unfortunately I curbed my left front wheel while pulling into a gated parking lot due to the elevation of the central median, and the PDC was of little help. I just open the window and peak out the driver's side window as other people stare at me.

Same with me - for whatever reason most of the curbs I've approached it works with, but there have been a few key times where it doesn't. For anybody doing ED, it almost never works there.

As others have said I use the cameras if it's a tight spot - you can't see the curb barrier, but you can get see when you're in the spot well enough and/or getting close to scraping it up.

I once saw a dude coming out of a bar pull half his bumper off - he'd parked over the barrier and bumper lip snapped down over the barrier ... then when he left he wasn't reversing so he gave it more gas. bad choice.

Never trust the radar for front bumper stops. They do not register and visibility is horrible from the drivers seat. I default to parking a foot or so off what I think is a safe zone. Even then I get too close at times.

+1 on not trusting the radar.
+1 on using and trusting the cameras (one of the reasons's I got "Side and Top View Cameras").

Do you mind sharing which camera you went for?
How does it integrate with your iDrive screen?

Can't wait to see your review!

The answer is no, especially the lower lying ones. I scraped the paint on the bottom of my bumper cuz I couldn't see the block, and the sensors didn't pick it up. I've posted on this before. Many assholes on this forum will say that you don't know how to park because you actually depend on technology to park; one idiot somehow interpreted my post as me complaining that cameras aren't under the car! Bottom line…the sensors won't pick up parking blocks, especially the small ones.

If you have the side cameras, just use those. The yellow line is a good indicator of how far you can go, especially if there are other cars next to you!
